May 1911
May 1st Very warm with occasional heavy showers. Went down to Will Smiths on forenoon in Port. Hubert and I drove over to farm to water Bobbie Mc came right back for them left on the 5 o'clock train for Fort Saskatchewan. 2nd Hubert and Toby went to the farm I had to go to Jim Banisters at 3:45 A.M. to attend his mare it was very cold with a North West wind. My waggon came and I helped {illegible name} unload it. I went to the farm after dinner and helped Hubert get out some little trees to plant along the lane.

May 3rd. The wind chill in the North West and cold quite a frost last night. Went to the farm after breakfast and found Bill at work. Hubert and Jody come over about 9-30 and they and Bill went after trees today and a hole for {unclear works} and Jody came home with me.

At noon and after dinner {illegible}




May 4th. Very much milder today wind still North West. Jody and I drove over to the farm right after breakfast. Bill was at work digging the holes for the anchor posts. We got 3 all finished. Hope to get all them all done tomorrow. {Eligible} was over all the {?} flaunting his trees.

May 5th, Much milder but still a cool wind. Finished putting in the anchor posts and Perkins was over and took all the piping out the {?} and got it all apart. Hallie has gone to preacher.

May 6th. Saturady, a lovely day. Jody and I {?} over to the farm early with Ginger and {?} Bell & Bobbie then {?} a little in the orchard.

Bill finished trimming the big limbs out for wood.Then he hitched up and {?} out and got the rest of the trees that Herbert had dug up and a couple of pieces for a store boat. Came back and Bill {?} the boat. He did not work the afternoon. Dick came home over to the farm about 11-30 with his dinner. Joby and I came home and {?} with Bill and {?} over Fred's cow and calf. Herbert, Hallie & Lila {?} Herbert set out {?} trees and the other went to the woods for flowers. Joby and I hauled a lot of the limbs from the orchard to the house. Sunday 7th Lovely day. Went to church. Was over at the farm before breakfast to do chores, the boys went to Sunday school and we all went to church. After dinner {?} and I drove over to the farm then out to Jim {Thaddle} and home by the cemetary. went to church again in the evening. Wrote a short letter to {?} and we all went to bed as early {?}

Monday May 8th a beutiful day again. Got to the farm as soon as we could but I had to go to Gillies and pay {?} for the posts. Then to {Builders} and pay for my doubetrees. I took my {rest of page illegible}

Tuesday May 9th. This has been a beautiful day, that got started {?}. {?} got there about 9 O Clock and I {?} after dinner. Hubert was over the afternoon and helped Bill at the new house and finally down the old shed.

Wednesday May 10th. I began {?} but it commensed raining about 10 O Clock. Hubert and Bill had gone to the bush to cut a couple of skids to mount the hen house on. I arrived closley and on the wheat East of the {?} did not have quite enough to cover {?}. Came home about 3 P.M and it did not rain after {?}. I went to a school meeting at night.

Monday 11th. I got quite a lot {?}. Ginger is {?} gay but she is getting steadier. {?} helped Bill in the {?} but did not stay all the afternoon. We all went to, "Darud" in evening.

Friday 12th Billy Fallon came in the morning to put up the fence and Mrs Miller brought the {?} I ploughed all I could. Jack Watkins came over and mowed the hen house. High wind all day but not as {?} as yesterday.

Saturday 13th, A fine day but a cold wind. Joby and {?} {?} Fleming and got in of {?}. I left Joby holding the horses {?}. {Rest of page difficult to read}.

Sunday May 14th. I did not get to church at all today. I went to the farm in the morning and had to clean all my bird cages and when I got back after dinner Hally and I went down to the Lak Shoe {?} two of GUs Lak's {?} home and right on to see Gus Reid. We found how much better the {sentence illegiable} at 5 P.M. A fine day.

Monday. Very warm but a stiff breeze. {Names illegible} brought their {?} over and got a splended lot done. I {?} in P.M. Bill did not show up. WIlliams all got off.

Tuesday May 16th. Hallie, Hubert, Joby and I all went to the farm this morning and {three words illegible}. Bill was at work on the hen house. I left Hallie, Hubert & Joby at the house I went back to {?}. It threatened rain all morning and came down really heavily about 11 O Clock. We all came home at noon. After dinner, Hubert and I went and got

Wednesday 17th May We had a {illegible} rain last night and it was dripping a little when I got up this morning so we did not get to the farm very early. Hubert and Hallie went to tho Hallie did not go till after dinner. Perkins was there with his pump so I had to help him all day. Hubert, Perkins, Bill at the hen house and cleaned the {?} out of the house. Joby had to help both of us. It has been a beautiful glowing day {next sentence illegible}.

Sunday May 21st. This is our first Sunday on the farm and it is a hot one. It was been very hot for the last three days. We have been in such confusion that I have not had time to write in this since Wednesday. Thursday Perkins was here again at the {?} so it was Friday he went to the {?} on Thursday so did Dick, he finished fixing up the {?} and windmill yesterday and it work beautifully. We only got partly moved yesterday but hope to be in more {?} state next Sunday.

I have just written a short stort letter to Hallie, it is terribly lonely without her.

Monday 22nd. This has been another very hot day. Bill did not come back this morning so we did not get on at any of the farm work, but Hallie and finished papering the hall. Joby cleaned up the front yard after tea the bag went to the {?} and Hallie and I went drove home and got the turkey. The {holeheads?} wall only and bad {?}. It is thundering now and looks very like rain.

Tuesday 23rd. Bill came this morning and we finished the chicken fence then we all went do with the waggon and got Huberts range and a few things from the house Bill went up and got Harry Ashley's horse. He did not get vack to the farm until 1 O Clock, we had some dinner then put up the {colour Ball?} and I went back there and got the {?} and {?} {?} a little piece back of the farm and commenced {?} for mangels and {?}. Mrs Waddle and Mrs Coleman were over this afternoon and so were both {?}(open is dry) {?} were all through the house. There is a great thunderstorm going on now and the rain is needed.

Wednesay May 24th much cooler today but hot enough. Bill {?} Joby and i took Giner and Joe down town got {??} and brough home the chickens the {?} and several of the things

Inthe afternnon, I put the {?} in {?} and did some add Joby & Hallie finished papering the {?} and cleaned some fo the floors. I am afriad she will be tired out.

Thursday 25th. This has been a long day. Bill ploughed all day, Hallie and I measured all the carpet and matting first this after breakfast. Then Joby and I went to Flamingo after this {?} of the {?} acid got there like

Friday 26th A beautiful day and finally warm though a fine breeze was blowing that afternoon. The day commenced for me 1 2-15. In Hallie {?}me {?} and said that Dick was dreaming I got up to {?} time but for {?}

a terrible ear-ache which kept us both greatly much awake. He dozed off then and I got up. Soon after breakfast Will, Donald and Charlie Butler came over with {?}

and we got a freat day in the corn ground finished {?} and got it all rolled

Saturday 27th. Very warm, Charles Butler came in the morning with a chek for a {?} for chick. He let Joby {?} he {?} and I drove Bill and Harry Audrey's horse until noon. Bill helped Charlie put the {?} in the afternoon. I {?} the corn {?} Hallie {cannot understand rest of sentence}

Sunday 28th {?} cemetery. I drove Joby down to Sunday School then came back and took Hallie down to church. I did not

Monday May 29 Not quite so warm today. Joby {?} corn ground till noon. I {?} mangles, Bill came back at noon and and made a corn marker in {?} noon, Hallie, Joby and I went down home after dinner. I got my {?} set of {?} and seed corn and potatos and some things from the house. We did not get home until six after tea. Hallie {?}

{Brenda} McPerson she is {?} now. Dick got the last turkey.

Tuesday 30th. Sun arose looking very like rain but it leared off by leaving without a drop falling. Was cool and cloudy all day, Bill and I worked on the corn ground until noon after dinner he began marking a I cut seed potatoes until he began cross {?} then I {?} Joby went down town right after dinner and I got a {?}. Bill finished marking about 5 O Clock he put his time {end of page}
