April 1897

18 Was in church, not many present. A funeral in afternoon, A William Conroy from the S Branch, who died in Cornwall.

19. Jimie left this morning for Toronto. Gave him 25. for himself (a loan) 2.8. to make some purchases 25. for timber, (a barn) 2.50 to make some purchases at T. Eatons. I sent for $10 worth. Cotton gingham flannelette thread small necessaries. Turned cold.

20 Mercury down 16 below freezing, froze water solid in some basins in the cookhouse. Far got 5 dore 3 succers this evening. McDonell finished cutting cords of wood.

21 Still cold. I made a small washing.

22. Fine, but cold wind looks like a change.

23. Jimie came home this morning. Pidgan & son here splitting wood, Murdy, borrowed a cart to draw in the woods. Got a clothe line yesterday 12 cts & a 5 ct box of yeast. Paid Murdy $20. 4.5's for value received. 17 20

24. Some rain Girls drove to Lancaster.

25. Fine warm in morning with high wind began to rain in afternoon.

26. Morning bright. I washed. In afternoon turned cold & wet. Gave 1.20 to Ran to pay for a Telegram.

27 Turned cold in the night. Ground Covered with snow. an ugly day.

28 Wednesday snow all off.

29 Jimie got through with the assessment roll and went with it to McGillivray's To 1 lb tea 38 cts - 1 gall coal oil, 2 lamp chimneys 30 cts. 38

30. To 7 lbs roast from McKewin 63 - 100 of flour from Willie 2.40. 63 2.4

One box from T. Eaton's came on Wednesday sent for some ribbon and silk 1.82. 1.82
