| 22. | Fine day, slight frost every night.
Sir William died. Hugh McLennan of Montreal, formerly of Lancaster, died suddenly yesterday. It was a shock to his friends. I sent a letter to Jamie & one to Randy. Pa got an answer from D.B. and a post office order for $65. |

| 30 | Marion left for Apple Hill Yesterday and got home today with Birdie. The Annual Meeting of the Bible Society. Mr. Bennet the agent gave a good address. My off. 1.00. This has been a very exciting month for the British nation, they have a greate number of men in Africa, they fought a decisive battle with the Deroishes. And are supposed to have taken them up intirely, But with the Boers they have a different foe to fight brave like themselves |
