July 1900

1 Sunday. fine cool day. had a fire in Kitchen Mr Given preached a patriotic & political sermon to a large congregation
2 Baking for S.S. pic nic tomorrow at Ewin Dingwall's pine grove on the B. river bank
3 Began to rain in the morning and showered and drizzled all day. So there was no pic nic R. Grant (Bowery) came with a load, remained a little while in the Hall, then went home Murdy went to Bainsville
4 Cleared off is fine. To 1 lb tea 30 cts pan bread 24 = There has been an advance in the price since Monday. A cent a loaf 54

6. No papers or letters for us today 1:30 P.M, a heavy shower of rain Murdy just got home before it began Bird and I sent for a few things to Eatons. by J.C.B. who is sending for some things Bird sent for a pair booties $1.50. I sent for curtains 2 pair 1.25 each 2.50 2 pair 30 each = 60 3.10
7 Fine day. To 2 1/2 lb sausages 25. (at Shields) To 2 cans of salmon 30 cts 25
8. Drizzling. not many in church. A good sermon
9. I worked all afternoon in garden, under a mild drizzle.
10 2 1/2 lb saucages 25, News in papers of war in S. Africa. Canadians as usual doing fine. Cavelry. Marion & Daisy went to visit at Sandy Ban's I called at the manse Mrs Givens feeling pretty well. (To 12 boxes strawberries 1.20 sugar 75 cts P 1.20

11. Wednesday. The girls and I are purposing to go to the Lawn Social at Don, Roys. 3rd Con
12. Severe thunder storm last evening. began between 6. & 7. A heavy down pour of rain
13. We went to D.R.'s to see how the social went off on Wednesday, And it was put off until last night. The girls came home and done the evening work, then went back And we enjoyed the social very much. Jessie Ellen, got a prise and an address. Coal oil 25, P social 10 35
14 The S.S. pic nic, came off today at Dingwall pine bush on the B. river bank. There was a goodly number considering that the people north had their diversion last night

15. Fine day. A good congregation. The pic nic yesterday Friday was good. there were a few showers, and plenty of drizzle. still there was lots of fun.
16. Fine in forenoon. A severe storm in afternoon Aunt Kate had a paralatic stroke on Saturday They have nurse Cotter attending her
17. There was a building of Ben Clarks S.B. burnt last night. Very hot Mercury up to 84.. 9. P.M. A severe storm passing over the village To 2 1/2 lb steak at Sheils 25
18 Birdie got a letter from Hattie saying her mother fell down stairs last night and is very poorly.
19. 9 P.M. Birdie & I went to see Sally.
