April 1888

1. Sunday. There was a young Student of M Gill preached today. A M. read 11 Deut. Text Gala 6. 7 verse P.m. read John 3 chapt Dr in tonight
2 Washed two shaw ticks. Got 1 gall maple syrup from uncle Don Far went to the Gore. Pa sold marriage license to G.W. Fergusson {Sneak?} to marry Mary McIntyre, R.R, There was not many at Singing class
3. Fine day, looks like good sugar weather. got a bottle of {vrisk?} from the Dr
4 Beautiful sugar weather A.M. P.M. turned cloudy.
5 11.57 P.M. has been raining all day, and is still raining Women's Meeting at G. Elders. 14 members present my offering was 25 cts. S. Foultin & Lilly B. are each collecting money for Point Trumble school, to help build a wing for the girls. I gave both L & S 10 cts each. Was at singing school gave Leitch 60 cts. Lander has not been to see us since he took the dishes away. Mrs D.D. gave me the 25 cts that I gave for Kenedys boy 25 20 90
6 It has been a fine day. Mrs Lander brought about 21 gall of syrup Far is yet in Gore. I did but very little this week my feet and legs are sore Mrs Alick Grant, Sank, died last night. Dr was in today gave a little iodine for the foot.
7 Boiled Lander's syrup and it did not amount to 2 gall. Had a letter from Jimie and a post office order for $.20.00
8 Had no sermon today. Sandy Ossin, read, And some others prayed Far came from the Gore and had 1 gall of syrup Handy cannot come to finish the singing. he has been ordered to Wales.
9 Very fine day. McCormick took charge of the singing Sent a letter to Jimie. Uncle Donald had a letter from Scotland from his cousin Murdock Got 4 lbs butter from Auntie.
10 The anniversity of our marriage. Very fine morning, about noon began to cloud and at 2.30 began to rain
11 Rained all day. sent a letter to Murdy 10 dollars 10.95

12 Cold E. wind all day We got word of the death of Rory Niel McLennan, he will be buried tomporrow
13 Fine day sugar weather
14 Sold 3 doz. eggs. 14 cts pr doz. got 4 lb raisins, 1 chinese lantern got a Telegram to meet uncle Sandy this evening. 51
15 Uncle Sandy came last night and with him Annie McDonell. This is a lovely day. No Minister
16. Annie McD. went off to get the 5.30 P.M. train Sandy went later to get the 10.30. P.M. Far had a letter Telegram from Jimie. he left Port Hawkesberry for Montreal. there was a Mrs McDonald buried today in St Mary's who died suddenly at her daughters (Mrs Corbelle). Sandy was to see Peggy

18 Rain today. showery. Was at Prayer Meeting. McGillivray was there, butchered Peonys calf sold 2 yrs 1.50 cts
19. Jimie came home this morning, came to the Gore last night. Far was to Cornwall last night to hear Mrs Scots Sidden. The vote to repeal the Scots Act took place today. And at 8.30. P.M. the repeal had 1500 majority.
20 Over 2.000 voted for repeal. And of the 8 Counties not one sustained the Act. I was to see Auntie this evening. And I bought at Dan's on account of oats sold in March 1 bottle of Electric oil 5 yds Cotton 9 -45. 2 towels 17 - 34. Got from Annie 2 1/4 butter, Got 3 succers. the first of the Season
21 Marion sold 2 doz eggs, at J.A.'s got 2 yds blue ribbon and 1. pint glass dish for Auntie.
22 Fine day. Mr Hewett Methodist of Lancaster preached. read 110. Psalm. & Hebrews 1 chapt. Text 6th verse of 2d chapt. Phillipeans. He and Nicholson 1.50
