Thursday 26th. burn all last night till 3 this morning fine the rest of the day with cold north wind. Father and Robert hopping in the forenoon digging potatoes in the afternoon. Fred chopping logs about the clearing thrashing in the afternoon. Phil to Salters withe oxen logging. Chopping barn logs myself.

Friday 27th Frost last night fine and pleasant during the day. Father and Robert after potatoes. Fred and Phil chopping up logs and drawing them together in the clearing. I went to the village.
