not hear the train. The cow catcher threw him over a couple of times and he rolled down of the snow bank to within a few inches of the wheels of the train. Had his cap torn to bits and his head cut  but will be alright it seems. Cut out some more material for my picture letter.

March 4th. Thursday.

Did some work for Charles in the morning but cut some material for picture letter. (at same time cleaning out the shelf below library couch.) Mr. Caldwell is sick so I spent the <s>office</s> afternoon at the office. First thaw since before Christmas and it was raining when I came home at 6 o'clock. Charles went out with the shovel to dig out the sewer trap and I shovelled out quite a length of sidewalk. Slept outside. Wrote to Clare.

Wind changed in the night. Windows covered with frost again and quite a fall of snow. Did some work for Charles. Then cut out pictures, at the same time clearing out shelf under couch.
