1911. Summary of the Diary.
May 20th Spent first night on the farm. Bill Oakes preparing corn ground.
" 26th Bill Donald & Charlie Butler gave a day on corn ground.
" 30th Planted corn
" 31st Bobby's "Taurus", first calf born on the place (in our day)
June 12th Used cream separator for first time. Dad. at Flemming's barn (horse stable) raising.
" 16 Bill started to plough summer fallow
" 17 & 19 Had a bee to move the stable, old house & pig pen.
" 22 Holiday in town to celebrate the King's coronation.
" 28 Started haying in east corner field
July 13 Started wheat harvest. Terrible forest fires in north. many lives lost.
" 15 Dad cut alsike.
" 24 Got razor & shaving utensils for 16th birthday. Need whiskers
" 25 Dad got piano from Martin's. Winky Smith started painting house
Aug 1 Hamilton Asylum burned. 8 deaths.
" 4 Normal Entrance report out. Marj. Clarke (honors) Edna Sidway pass
" 9 Wyatt Person cut oats. Bill Oakes going west on Sat. 12th
" 11 Demolished old wooden trough at windmill, going to put in cement
" 15 Every body except Andrew Innes in Simcoe to hear Sir Wilfred.
" 17 Big crowd went up on special train to Simcoe to hear Mr. Borden
Aug 19 Bougner Picnic roads full of rigs of all kinds.
" 24 Threshed and put the straw over the cow shed.
Sept 7 Dad & I go to Exhibition. Every body talking reciprosity. Mostly against
