Moses' jurisdiction, I fail to see the enormity of the crime of doing a few odd jobs on Sunday. About four o'clock we all went down town as Marj. wanted to see Glad. Law Dr. Cook told her Glad. was going to Hamilton for treatment. We found when we got there that she had already left. We stopped in at the Bagley's for a few minutes and a few at Aunty's also at the farm where I arranged with Dad. & Frank to go over there to-morrow and shear sheep and let Frank plough corn ground, his own & mine. It has been getting colder all day and to-night when we came from town there was a very cold north wind.

Monday May 18th

It froze quite thick ice last night and has been quite cool all day but sunny. I went over to the farm this morning and we got seven sheep sheared. I did the shearing and Dad. turned the machine. Frank started to plough his corn ground this after noon. I went down to band-practice to-night. George Hallam came in just as we were about through to give Alex Spain some message and told him that Sam. Ross had just dropped dead. He had gone down as usual and brought mail up from the last train and put his horse away and gone in the house when he complained of a sharp pain and dropped dead.

Tuesday May 19th

Harry B and I were over at the farm all day again to-day and we finished shearing the sheep. Frank had sheared a couple when we got there and Dad. & I took turns with the other seven.They sheared one old ewe a month or so ago when she first had lambs. Soon after dinner Mr. Bagley, Marj. Gay & the baby all drove in in Mr. Bagley's new Star car. Ina didn't come to-day as Marj. had expected so she went up to the Shands and asked Mr. Bagley over the telephone if he could come out and take her down town. Frank went out with the tractor and plough just before dinner (he had to go down town first for oil) and he had the corn ground all ploughed when I got home to-night. He left the tractor here and is going to work up the piece north of the lane to-morrow with his spring tooth drags.

Wednesday May 20th

Dad. & Frank both came over this morning. Frank spent the fore noon going over the piece where I want to sow alfalfa and gave the couch grass a pretty good tearing up. Dad & I drove Josie over to Tom. Stone's to see if Dad. could get a load of hay. We took Harry B. & Gay with us. Gay went to sleep so we put her in Nina's charge and she slept all the time
