George Sims comes up to house at noon & tells me C Hughs is drunk. I go down with George & dismiss Hughs. Put S Hindle on to watch tonight. Hughs very bad.

Go to Tannery at 6 30 A.M. Hughs still drinking. Sam Hindle watches at Tannery last night. Insure Mothers dwelling house & furniture for $2500 for 3 Years in Manufacturers & Merchants Mutual Co Alpheus Beamer, Hamilton also $2000 on Machinery etc. in Tannery I pay him $1350 on Policy on House C Parsons come over in Boat & returns again.
