21st Feb, 1902. A Fortunate Day, a very fine day, the sun is warm. Randolph here brought the mail. A letter from John Cameron, Junction City. Leander boarding the west side north up stairs. Gordon came tonight had 2 letters from {?} and one from Mr. John McBain, my old friend and schoolmate. He was always a good churchman and a good Christian and an excellent scholar and a good teacher. I am awful about my sight. Those letters I got I cannot read and the mistress has to make them out the best she can. I am thinking my sight will get better, still I am doubtful. I will be glad to get the book as they will read it to me and I used to be so used that route from Martintown to the Scotch River, McSavers Mills, Riceville and other places. We had lots of friends out there, the Campbells in the 19th and 20th. Malcom Campbell, MacKercher on Mr.Heracher, The Buffalo. His mother was a near relation of ours. The McDermids and the Camerons.
