21st March 1902. First day of spring, Randolph here after ducks in airhole. Some rain, a few drops this morning. Sun crosses the line. Equinoxical Gales begins on land and sea. Ice must be wearing under. Stanley not much better, I cannot see right what I am writing took some of the Barrels to the river to soak. Tapping today, took some buckets to the bay.Took over the Iron or metal barrel to the House for the sugar bush.

A fine day for the Conservative meeting in Alexandria or the Priest Mills as I’ve used to call it in days of yore. very hot sun came out, about 4 or ½ past 4. Gathered 6 barrels this afternoon about 270 Tapt now. This is the first gathering, no fine made yet. Sap run well all night.

22nd, Livinia Senior Birthday and a very fine day it is. 1840. Fernandez came, got a letter him. I don’t know its contents, sap runs well today.
