23rd of March. Ice opened today at Fran{run off} Island. The old mark for the{run off} to go. Randolph here, had to stop night and go across with the {illegible} in the morning. Fernandez went to Lancaster to see and get some medicine from Dr. Harkness got it. Ice bad near shore, made syrup for the first had many 7 gallons, a very good sap Day Stanley taken medicine today. 25th, Lady Day annunciation. Virgin Mary a very Fine Day. Went to the old house, took over an axe.
