3rd Allens Birth Day, a cold Day the ice is thinking to take anchor ice commenced going down I Believe it is taken Between here and {christies} tonight not taken on the north side only little past the little Island I seen this evening what I did not Believe before that is the Sun Moon and Star I seen the 3 of them a little Before Sunset water raising close to shore a frosty night

4 Ice made {a crop} to {chuster?} Went to Head of the Island caught a Live Duck Bitter cold Anchor ice going Down Drew some {illegible} holes Before the Door But small foxes crossed last night from {} went in the Evening to the Little Island put out 3 or 4 bushes I think the channel will Jam to night open on Both sides of the Hog Island the Wind high and cold Mending sox
