Sunday July 2 It has been a terribly hot day. The hottest yet. Ivy and Dick walked down to Sunday school and Hattie, Ray, and I drove down to church in the chapel to Communion and stayed to dinner at Hattie’s. After dinner Hattie and I came home then drove back with some cream for Bill. We came right home again and started home. We beat Mrs. Eddy. Ivy was home for tea but down to see town. He and Dick got home about 9 o’clock. Ivy did not get his sister’s open letter that has come after he did not get to bed till midnight.
Monday July 3 Has been hot. Very hot. I went down to get the 7:15 train and brought Hubert. Bill and Hattie along with me. We worked in the hay all day and finished one part of hauled the load in.
Tuesday 4th Another roasting day. Hubert came over in the morning and we finished hauling all from the cornfield, the last load to Mrs. Beverley’s and two to John Greenbough’s. After dinner the children all took a swim then we hauled a small load only. The team made in all 10 big loads on seven in the east end of the big barn. We commenced cutting the field.
