across the creek. Wednesday July 5th It has not been quite so hot today, but warm enough. Bill finished cutting the field and Ivy and I went to it at noon. Bill raked all the hay. Bill and Ivy finished on the hill and picked up all the time and Bill & Ivy when they were done worked on hay. I went to cut thistles forenoon. Ivy helped Father pick cherries in the pine lot.

Thursday 6th Hubert came over and we got in 4 loads off the back field, both. Then went to Mr. Beverley’s. It rained a little shower in the afternoon but did not delay so much.


Friday July 7th This has been a beautiful day, warm but fine. Carried 3 loads all day and finished hauling from the back field to the main orchard. Miles of the Elm Grove helping out till 7:30. Partridge was over and put a cherry pump in the sink at the stable. It made 94½ sand water going to bed.

Saturday July 8th A lovely day but getting pretty hot in the evening. Herbert came over to help pick cherries and helped in the hay. We finished cocking up all the hay. Had it all about 3:30. Bill then got the hay forks rigged up in the hay house.
