Minetta "Nettie" Walton Diary, 1888

& met Ireland girls going to Sarahs so we went back with them & then Theoph & Will Alton came then Josie & Alf & Will Ireland so had quite a house full. Theoph & I playing mouth organ. Then we all got chasing pigs & had such laughing till I got sick. Then told riddles & they went at 6. Will & Theoph waited until girls would get nearly home B4. they went.

Thur 17th.. May Fine day. Hurried & got sink sone & got ready & we came down home got here at 8. A.M. I made yeast & iron busy all day. Ida making wrapper & sunbonnet. They went after tea. Pa & Alf fished all day & cot amost two full pe{cut off}.

Frid 18th.. Ida & I out doors tying up grapes then she cleaned parlor & I done hall rather tired at night.

Sat 19th..Maria & Annie trimming straw berries Ida doing baking & I cleaning then after dinner putting down carpet in dining room & busy till 6. Girls said Dave was over Wed. eve when I was away on Street

Sun 20th.. May. Nice day went to SS. E.M. Annie & Maria drove down to Oakville new presbyerian church They not home in time for S.S. Had Mr Husband for dinner. No person here for tea. Ida & I went over to see Annie B. hurried of before any would come & when got there who should be there but Dave he & Dan were to Oakville in P.M. so he there for tea. We had quite a chat then Ida & I went over to Brodericks & Dave went home to feed horse & he came back & Brod & we had a sing & he came home with us. Went at 10.

Mon 21st.. Washing & I planting melon seed when Dave drove over with his horse & buggy & wanted some body to go to Oakville tea-meeting. I went on out to finish planting & he came out & asked me. I didn't care about going but didn't like to refuse when he came over all prepared. So I got ready & went he forgot to get robe so we drove in his place for it. Had a great talk going & coming. The church shed was full of horses so had to go to hotel with horse. We got sit down to tea table & spyed Annie eating at another table. Emma Belyea came & spoke to me & Maggie Gailee also. Had a nice tea. Got a front seat near some of Nuddlewad folks. Charlie Eazard in front of us. Mr & Mrs Waldie behind & Mary Flemming & Andia. Had lots of good speakers. Mr McKay from Parkdale was there & Mr Cochrean from Brantford etc. Got out after 11. It lovely moonlight night We walked up to shed & he made me acquainted with Charlie Ezard. Poor Jane I had to tell him just about my thots were towards him we had a terrible long talk. We sat at lane gate & then at house in buggy It 1 O'clock when got home. Dave said I needn't expect him over very often now.
