February 1899

1. Wednesday: Fine day.
2. Womans meeting at Dunlops. The Annual meeting of St. Andrews church. Going to sell some of the Glebe. John A. McDonald Sr. Appointed Trustee for the Church in place of A.J. Grant.
3 Fine day. The C.E. had a ralley last night. They ho{st?} visitors from Martintown Summerstown South Branch. Pic-nic Grove. Murdy is sick of La Grippe
4. To 1 gall coal oil 17 cts 17
5. Very fine day.I was not in Church. Marion is sick. Far went to the North Branch
6 Another fine day. Murdy is some better Marion is not. Sold 2 doz eggs, Got sugar Spirits turpentine 5 cts Far got home 10. P.M.
7. Bot 10 lbs honey from St John 8 cts pr lb 80
8. Snowing & blowing. Jimie is sick, he went on Saturday to Alexandria and must have got cold. Far went by mail to Martintown
9 Turned cold last night. now 2:30 P.M. Cold drifting our sick are some better. Pa bot a sink pail at Raymond's yesterday 25 cts 25
10. One of our cows is sick. Jimie & I are trying to DC. it. It is very cold, down to 20. below zero
11. Still cold. The cow better. Jimie worse. To 1 gall coal oil 17. Sugar 25. lemon ex. 8. candy 2. 50
12. Still cold. Not many in church. The new elders announced. Sandy Sank, R. Bowery, H. Monroe A.P. Ross will be ordained on the 26th. Far came home. Dr. McLennan drove him
13. Not so frosty. About zero. Boys took home about 1/2 cord of wood. Murdy To 2 lb butter 36.
14. Birdie is getting the Grip
15. Marion is looking, bad

17. Fine day.
18. Marion pretty sick. Birdie better To 4 1/2 lbs buter 18 cts = 81. 4 1/2 lb codfish 30 1 lb tea. 1/2 black 1/2 green 25 1.11 25
19. Marion pretty bad called Mowet he examined her, said it was neuralge of stomach gave her a bottle of medecine
20. Very fine day, roads bad for travelling snow mostly off the roads. A most remarkable winter. This month almost like April. The President of France died After 4 hours illness (Felix Faure aged 68 yrs on 17th. A new President appointed with 483 out of 817 (Emile Loubet)
21 Marion passed a restless night, Got 65 cts from papa sold 2 doz eggs. 18 cts pr. doz Got 4 lbs cod fish 30 cts 5 lbs rice 20 cts 1 bottle castor oul 6 30 26
22 Dull day. Birdie around Marion no better
23 Girls called to see Marion
24 Turned cold no snow, All travelling by wheels Murdy went to work at A McCullochs on Tuesday did not get back yet. 1 gall coal oil Murdy
25. Had Mowet in to see Marion. Gave her a bottle medecine. Only Jimie & Murdy in church Mrs H. Jamison was buried here yesterday, aged 91
27. Mowet called today, And sent a bottle of tonic. Murdy went to Montreal tonight to Attend the District. Council of R. T. of T.
28. Last day of February. Fine day but cold wind. sold 2 1/2 doz eggs. got sugar Far got a letter from Randy, from Glenora. Pa on rampage, 78 1/2 years, is not dampening his excitement. Got 1 fore quarter of Kale's ox. Kate fell yesterday at the door, And put out her shoulder Jimie got a pair of red boots 2.50 Pa got me a pair 1.25. Got for Aunt Kate too small. Your text here...
