18 Very cold This morning mercury down to 6. Red worked today
19 Jimie's birthday. he and Far were at Lancaster last night to {?} raw and cold looks like snow. was very bright in the morning The calf that came first is not well, looks like death 25
20 Social tonight, I made a few fried cakes. To 4 lb sugar 25
21 Far Jimie .25 Bird .25 & Marion 10 were at the social. it was pretty good. The weather is still very cold for this time of year not a sign of thaw. the road is as good as it was in January.
22 Sunday very fine day There was a Mr McKenzie a student of Montreal, preached and he gave a very good sermon
23 Stormy Donald Dougald was here today so was Mary and Donald from the Gore. Mary was at her music Donald was at the mill. To 22 lbs oatmeal 64
24 News of a battle in London. General ONeal {McNeill} had a fight on Sunday with the Aribs. Marion got a book 10
25 The calf very sick. Pa & Jimie went to Lancaster to meet the {Coarps?} of widdow Duncan Donn, she died west at her son Donald's, it did not come, snowed in. I was at prayer meeting tonight, not many thair, but it was very interesting. The boys took home some of our hay from the Pigon farm.

27 Snow I sent a letter to Murdy and $12.00. The boys Killed the sick calf.
28 My birthday Jimie & Ran & I went to The Gore. Left home 6 P.M. came home 10 P.m. A lovely night but bad roads. Cahols like cellarsdon, Mary & Far were off to singing school. The last night John and Mary Jn Robertson was with us.
29 Sunday. Rev. McCrimmon of Summerstown preached in our church a very good sermon. News of a fight in the N. West Riel the rebel and some Indian half breeds have rebelled against the Government. very fine day
30 Looks gloomy. J.D. McDonald's wife of Cornwall was buried here today
31 Snowing with rain water rising in the creek. Pelow came with some {grain?} Angus {?liff?} leaving the farm house. Troops ordered to the North West. Your text here...
