May 1889

16 Rained this forenoon, boys went to work in afternoon. There were three men with two bears went through the village, the bears were light brown, Cinnamon colour with big tufts of hair on their backs between neck and shoulders Bengough of "Grip" will be in Lancaster tonigh sowed citrons
17 Fine day planted cucumber melon water & musk. Got 100 lb flour from Dunlop $3.25 Jimie sowed bush oats. 2 1/2 bush wheat 3 25
18 Murdy harrowed the grain Jimie went to Lancaster after dinner and remained until the 7.30 train. And Cousin Annie of Toronto came home with him got 1/2 gall coal oil 1 box crackers 30 cts 48
19. Far came home last night and went off tonight Saturday was very hot mercury was up here to 90 = 88 in Montrea D.D. preached in Givens place today
20 It began to rain last night Jimie Brown left at 9 P.M. for Lancaster en Rote for Toronto Bosher paid $5_ rent
