December 1891

1 Tuesday Frosty weather. Brown came today he and Murdy went out to Aleck Dingwalls Murdy's indenture papers were signed and mailed to Toronto
2 Fine day thawing Sent letter & papers to F.
3 Very fine day. Butchered two pigs had Sam helping, paid him 50 cts. The womans Meeting was at Mrs McGruers 12 members present I had no offering. A letter for Murdy.
4 Cut up the pigs 1 weighed 163 the other 164 It was beautifully mild until after dark now 8 P.M. wind & rain. The schoolars were delighted with a man who was at the school with a phonograph
5 I sat for a while in the morning sewing, the boys took down the furnace pipes and cleaned them. Ran went in the afternoon and shot a hare.
6 Fine day. I made a kind of a finish on Marion's sacque. {The sacque is a yoke-free, loose-fitting top inspired by the 18th-century short gown} Pa got 2 lb stew at Gusty's last evening. Maggy Falkner was hired at the school meeting yesterday. There is a good deal of indignation. she did not get her certificate yet, and some experrence 2d Normal teachers were ignored 80
7 8 Birdie is bad with a gumboil Ran is teaching. snowed last night Jimie Snowed last nig took the cutter to take Murdy to the Station
8 Very fine day. thawing some in the sun. Got 1 gall coaloil sent papers. And his bank book to 20
