December 1891

17 This has been a very cold day. we have no thermometer so I do not know how cold. The Protest was tried in Cornwall today. And Rory was defeated but may try another election next month Pa paid Mrs John Angus $400 for the horse rake. there is one wheel that is good for norhing. I sent a few lines to Far.
18 The village schools closed today. Birdie got an address and plush dressmg case & plush Album, from her pupils Cousin Jimie came home last evening so did Murdy. he had XV for me from Leitch
19. Got home the carpet 27 yds, cost for warp & weaving $4.56 got nutmeg cream tartar B. strap 40 cts 4.56 40
20 Heavy hoar frost, last night. The trees were, and are beautifully ornamented with crystal. I did not go to church for I have twanges of toothache.
21 Began to paper downstairs bedroom. Girls sewing carpet.
22 Cleared sitting room. Bot 1 qr beef 100 lbs paid 5.00
23 Had a letter from Sandy. he expressed a box
24 Sleighing mostly all gone, have to take wheel carriage again. Jimie went to Lancaster and got the box. in it were two fine pictures one of Sandy, one of Elizabeth. I gave v to Murdy came home tonight he had the raisins Birdie sent for and currants I sent for $1.50. in all
