while Clare, Isabel & Doug. played snap. Jack & Duncan started to put stain on cottage to-day. Doug & Dorothy went to a dance at Clarke's.

Wednesday Aug. 18th.

Hot day. Good breeze. Went in for Morning drip. Swam over the deep hole (in wings) shows progress as I made no headway before. Did my own room and Doug's and swept mine, Dot's, Doug's and the hall. Went over to T.O. Clarke's for books for Nell and Myself. Went up to P.O. to post Clare's letter. Went in for a second swm in the afternoon. Alice, Isabel and I went out in the canoe. Alice and I paddling. Dr. Livingstone told us about China and his experience there.

Thursday Aug. 18th.

Hot day. Had Morning swim. Water cold. Read " A Maker of Opportunities" by George Gibbs. Did my room and Doug's and washed the bedroom dishes. Mended Charles' bathing suit. Washed out 2 pairs of stockings for Dorothy. Went out for a paddle in the canoe all by myself. Rest went for a launch
