Saturday Aug. 21st
Very wet day. Rain poured down amd beat into cottage (2 front rooms upstairs) Dashed Dorothy's clothes = muddy blouse, smock, Georgette blouse, 2 Skirts, 2 pairs hose, 2 brassieres, 1 vest, 1 camisole, 1 gown and 2 hdkfs.{handkerchiefs}. Ironed part of them and she finished what was dry. Lake in the back yard. Started by centrepiece. Went over to Charlie's to play seven-up with Doug and Isabel. Too rough for boys to go back to Southampton. They, Doug. Nickle and Dorothy played bridge. Went to store twice for Clare. Had my Morning swim (still on wings)
Sunday Aug. 22nd.
Fine but quite cool. Had My Morning swim although the water was cold. Jack, Julius, Duncan, Isabel, Doug L. and I went in. Men dug canal system to drain back yard. Went to church (Julius, Clare, Dorothy, Doug N. Alice S. and Keith & Isabel) Mr. Pilkie preached and Ruth Chambers sang a solo. "O Lord Correct Me." Jack, Charlie
