Monday Sept. 13th.

Beautiful morning. Went down for meat. came home and then went down with the s.s. collection. Worked at my centrepiece for two hours. Went for a walk - 7½ miles. Out to Fisher's corner and back to 2nd concession and home. Longest walk I ever took. Not as dusty to-day. Mrs. Ryan going to Owen Sound with Bert Lemke who is to have her tonsils removed. Mrs. Green to do the work while she is away. Wrote to Frank. Cleared off table. Played double Solitaire with Dorothy. Was wakened before 6 a.m. by black birds. I said "darn" and Charles grunted out, "I wish I had a gun." Migrating - hundred or more setted in our trees - on very top twigs & such a clatter!
