heard from John who is still a part of the Egyptian Army. He had been sent to Constantinople on a Medical Mission and had been given a week's leave to see the sights and had had an audience with the sultan. Slept inside
January 24th. (Saturday)
Read all morning while I watched for the Milkman. Keith brought up the Meat. Practised over two hours altogether. Coldest day this winter I think. Went to call at Stanley's. Heard that Harry McDonald has at last communicated with Jack. He is in the States somewhere and is doing well. Said to be the best Directory man in North America. Too cold for Charles to go out for his exercises. Called in afternoon to enquire for Mrs. Clarke. She could not be seen and Mrs. Leitch was having a sleep. Slept inside.
January 25 (Sunday) Very cold day. Went to Church in the Morning & evening and to S.S. Charles did not go to church at night. Mr. Tuer's Vaccination was very sore so he did not go to S.S. & Charles took his class. Only Alice and
