Jean Bell. She had been out for a drive with Florence Leslie and so was rather tired. She tried sitting up in a chair for awhile but seemed to be very weary so she lay down on the couch. I am afraid she will have to spend the rest of her time in bed or on the couch. Life promised to be short and weary for her. Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Grant came in before I left. Much colder by night Charles did not do Sentry go for very long. Slept inside.

January 28. (Wednesday)

Cold day. Read "The Clash", practised an hour and a half. Went down town with S.S. collection. Charles came home at noon stating that he wanted some sandwiches for the train on his way to London. Went down for ham, lemons etc. Wrote a couple of letters (typed) for Charles. He almost missed his train. I went to Mrs. Crow's for my lesson so was not here when he left. After I came home I went down town again to get The Enterprise. Wrote to Dorothy after tea and Mrs. Ryan posted it for me. Mrs. Clarke (Mrs. Leitch's )Mother) is sinking rapidly. Slept inside.
