Hamilton on the afternoon train. Went over to see take a book and some lilacs over to Miss Anne Milne. Warmer to-day but can still stand fire in the grate. Went to Father Cadot and sent him Dorothy's poem "The Day sleeps & awakens". Helped get lunch made up for Charles. Then he came home and announced that he had been knocked down and run over by an auto. (Mr. Patchell from the country who was following close behind a truck and who did not tout his horn) His ankle was very badly swollen where the wheel went over it. I bandaged it up and painted his thumb with iodine, where it was bruised. He decided to go on to Hamilton so I helped him pack and went to the station with him. I expect he will very stiff & sore to-morrow and will likely notice the shock more then. Mr. Caldwell came up for a book. Duncan came up and spent the evening. Charles telephoned about 10 o'clock that he was feeling somewhat better. Watered the flower beds at 6 p.m.
