AUGUST MONDAY 7 1876

Rutledge & I go to office at 8½ remain all day at work at bouchers. We both go over by City at 5. I lend Rutledge $200 on Boat. I go up to Horticultural Gardens & meet C Parsons, have talk about Hose, lea {leather} etc. Scadding walks down to American with me, sit awhile & talk I go to bed at 12.

AUGUST TUESDAY 8 1876

Up at 8. Go & get shaved see Scadding. Get rubber Hose $200 return by City. Expenses $200, order Hides & Japonica am introduced to Mrs Bruk (widow) by Mrs Willie Milloy. Wife Arthurs comes over.

Go to tannery on arrival of Boat & find Hughs drunk.
