snowing this morning but quieted down later and got bright, and it has been quite mild all day. I walke dobver home just before dinner and found Dad. there feeling rather tough after his trip. He and Dick arrived last night on the 5 o'clock car. Dick had given Dad an entertaining time in New York but the city and change has been too much for him. He has a bad cold and imndigestion. Dad. says New York has change dcomplaetely since he was there twenty years ago. Then he thought that if forced to live in in a city, it would be the ideal one but now he couldn't be persuaded to live there on any terms. He was thankful to get out of it alive.His ideas of the people sseems to have undergone a change too as he seemed terribly shocked at their actions over there. His trip was highly satisfactory as Aunt hattie agreed not to fight. We were all sure she would agree and she told dad. she wouldhave agreed not to even if she didn't get a cent out of it. It was too bad that dad's present to her couldn't have been a surporise.
