Apriil 20th 1862

Mr James cameron Island Easter Sunday

Cloudy this morning the Sund dont Dance a Sign of a very hard year the Sheep laid on the other Lamb and Killed it Lashey crossed to Tom Cottery a Fine Day 2 Buildings came down with the high Water on the night of the 19th The Hogansburgh Mill & Mannings Storehouse we went to Mr Morris's Lashey Livinia and me the water very high

21st Took home her chest called at Mavilles Found a square stick on the way coming Found a Canoe Lashey chopping Began to Rain Raining all night East Wind

22nd The Water Log Moved with the Wind Went around the Island Fixing the Big Canoe Found a nest under the Barn Let out the sheep & Lambs St Georges Day Seen a Kingfisher for the First

23 St Georges Day Merrie England Set 2 Traps for the Fox Snowing Blowing Freezing

24th helping Lashey to split his Maple Trees cold Day but Fine

25th Donald Young alek here for his Boards Lashey went to hunt Fixing the cart for to Draw Wood getting a Rat or 2 now & again circle around the sun West wind Sap runs yet Angus came Emmanuel came

26th Fishing EEls got 14 or 15 of them Livinia sick Shot 2 Ducks got 1

27th Sunday something hurted the Lamb Tom Cotters here Bought 1/4 of Tea 1/3 Paid Japan Tea wanting the Powder horn got 2 RAts

28th Frasher here Wind high

29th Went to Mr Morris's stopt all day Bought of Grindel Streeter 1 Pair of Boots 9/{illegible} for Livinia

30th Came with cow & colt in the {illegible} him a Trap sold the canoe Laura Ann co{cut off}

Lashey & Betsy Bone here James & Dan Cameron here Raining East & West wind got a Rat A Barge saild up on south side around the Island

2nd A Propeller went down Traveller went down Raining East Wind no Rats Ticks commenced Mosquitoes come water high Found a Rudder of a Jolly Boat

3rd Went to A Summers Bought Syrup 1/2 Gal 1/9 Whisky 2/6 Pitcher 1/6 pins -/6 oak Barrel 1/10 1/2 needles 1 1/2 Shot -/6 1/2 4/- Butter 4 lbs 3/- Andrw Bakers store closed up Bouquet Began to Run Fixing Hamiltons Bridge heard A Summers Being seized & David

Sunday 4th High Wind no one here Boats going in abundance Salaberry in to Salmon River St Lawrence Down Rafts going down Ground With snow on the Island yet

5th Seen a Weasel all Red

6th Francis here with 3 hens 1 Ruster allowed him 5/- for them part pay on the Lance Gave him some oil Laura & Livinia went acrofs took the canow I sold to Mr Morris for a Lamb in the Fall setting Fires to the Grafs Fixing ashes in the Bags took the Wood out of the cellar all alone Took up my Traps hurted My Eye

7th snowing Blowing & Raining Salaberry went up

8th Began to Plough A Summers here & Long John Gave them 2 peiced of Timber Elm 24 Lenght Hemlock 32 Planted Potatoes before the Door Bill Liss & Livinia came

9th Setting Fires Found a Ducks nest 9 eggs on the Pitt Point

10th Ploughed the Garden setting Fire above the {illegible} Fence He{illegible} on the 9th
