Sunday, April 21, 1872

Thursday April 17th 1879

Wm.Mcdonald left today for Cleveland, and felt quite overcome at the last bidding them all goodbye. took passage by the foot of the island landing at Rimouski point and reached the afternoon train in time for west. received a letter from Maggie today with abudget of news. she is also recovering from her illness,does not meen to teach again and seems inclined to try for an advanced certificate. Hugh had a severe attack of colic this afternoon, called in the doctor and he left easier at bedtime.

Friday April 18th

weather still cloudy, overcast and raw cold no spring as yet settled.roads are drying. ice fast giving way. no movement of ice in the river. may last all next week, our work must be near now,come when it will. many last year had almost done sowing at this date. mr.MacPhedran on little house, so he at least seems sanguine regarding his stay

Saturday 19th

M.came, John & Annie visited the place and at Nelly's grave, even this labour of love I could not join in when shall I be able to go and see it, walked around the farm, and had a severe attack.
