Current Page Transcription [edit] [history]

July Wednesday 27 1927

Turned a lot of nice furrows when Dan and I plowed with both teams all day. Mr Barker officiated in C.N.R. settlement. Uncle Tom & Cousin Eva came over to spend a few days with us. Had a Keystone Securities man to see me but I didn't bite. Jean & I had a swim at night even if the water was high.

Thursday 28

Weather didn't look very promising but Dan and I got the binder ready and got started cutting wheat just before noon. I shocked all the piece and finished right behind the binder. Rather a windy but short thunder shower came up at supper time and U.F.Y.F.O. garden party had to be postponed again. Leishman's hired man was killed when he fell from beam in haymow.

Friday 29

Plowed all day and finished the sod piece just south of the house where we get such a good view from our bedroom windows. Used Dollie & Fly together for first time in afternoon and they make a steady team. Jean and I went for a walk after supper and salted the cattle.

July Saturday 30 1927

Up bright and early ready for a big day and we had it too. Made good time fixing the west river fence when we were through by ten. Cut the barley and started to shock it before dinner. Then cut the other piece of wheat and had it stooked at 6.20 Didn't go to town but had a shave, helped Jean with the dishes, had a bath and waited for folks to bring Eleanor & Melville home with them.
