RULES REGARDING PROOFS
READ CAREFULLY
POSTAL CARD CORRESPONDENCE NOT RECOGNIZED
1. Do not expose proofs to strong lights, or they will fade immediately.
2. All proofs must be returned, or they will be charged for at the rate of two dollars each.
3. If order is given for more than one style, an extra charge of one dollar will be made for each additional negative, thus, one dozen of the $15.00 Cabinets finished from two negatives would cost $16.00, and if three different styles are ordered they would cost $17.00.
4. Write order plainly on the back of proofs you wish finished.
5. If proofs will not finish first-class you will find X on the back. Defects, or anything displeasing about expression will be remedied in finishing.
6. No photographs finished until a deposit is made, and the full amount must be paid before one photograph is delivered. We will not break this rule, for any person, under any circumstances.
7. If no order is given we charge from two dollars to ten dollars for making negatives.

SPECIAL NOTICE - Please remit by Registered Letter, Post Office Order, or Express Order. In case remittance is made by Cheque, add 25 cents for collection (United States 40 cents) and allow for time for same to be collected before order is sent forward.
Transcription Tips
- Follow the example of transcribing provided in the first few PDF files of this diary.
- Click Edit when you’re ready to start transcribing.
- Click Detach to move the transcription box to a convenient location.
- Copy the text as it is, including misspellings and abbreviations.
- Start each new day with a new line. Otherwise ignore spacing and alignments.
- Use toolbar heading options for any headings in the text, i.e. diary titles.
- Use toolbar table generator for any tables in the text, i.e. finance records.
- Use toolbar comment option to add your own comments, i.e. illegible text or uncertain names or description of drawings.
- Use toolbar stroke through text option to transcribe crossed-out text.
- When done press "Save Transcription" to save your work.
- Note: If a line on one page appears to carry over on the same line on the next page, please check the next page and (if applicable) transcribe both pages together as if they are one page. Type your unified transcription under the first of the two pages.
