Sun. 22nd. Sarah & I went to John St Church with N.G. & Emma in A.M. -- We all went down to see the Blandina in afternoon. Afraid of falling through the wharf as we tried to get to her. Crowds on bridges over R.R. track for Jumbo's train. After tea Jennie & us three went to Centenary Church. Heard lovely music. Went to Wallace's & stayed all night. Eva Wilkinson (Sarah's niece) there also on a visit.

Mon. July 23rd. Barnum's Circus in Hamilton. Went down to James St. to see procession after breakfast. Met E.M. & Dan Bray who had driven the girls up to see circus. After the procession we all went to the grounds but circus not commenced so we entered a side show - saw a man without legs but had feet - another without arms or hands. a white silky haired bushy headed young man who could imitate birds & animals, two women with hair six feet long, four giant brothers, a masculine woman with bearded face, alos a beautiful Circassian woman (Sarah bot her photo) Ziela Zeleak age 19 yr.
