and went over to John Joyce's gate with her, met E.M. escorting Jane B home from meeting & Mrs. Bray & Char. ahead of them. E.M. was talking to Maria on the verandah to-night when I went out and they let me hear. They think it not right to go visiting strangers and that Sarah should ought not to go anyways as she has been away enough this summer for a girl in her position who has not yet finished her education; but that I might go with Edith. I told Sarah this and she has decided not to go but I am sorry.

Wed. 8th. Sarah went with me to the corner where I met Edith in the stage & rode up with her as ma & pa drove to Hamilton with horse & buggy this morning. I gave pa some money {(1p5?)?} to get his photo's taken. How Edith's eyes flashed and her brow frowned when she saw Sarah not dressed to go too. I hesitated about getting on to go without Sarah as she was so angry but she said not to wait so I explained things when I got in and she became more satisfied reconciled.
