Amos is 5’ 3” tall, dark-haired and weighs 135 lbs. Times are tough in the Great Depression but in April amidst splitting wood, cleaning the hen house, and building a hot bed, the birth of his daughter Eleanor Clare is a very happy occasion. Amos joins his wife Muriel at the Goderich Hospital for the event, and shares the news with his in-laws, Joseph and Clara Washington. His in-laws keep a diary and so does his brother-in-law Walter J.
