In her 60s, Catharine records the activities of her household and the Fallows’ large farm situated on the border of Middlesex and Oxford County. She writes of gardening, housekeeping and her ailing husband, “Pa,” who is troubled with rheumatism.  She details the activities of her grown son Howard who does most of the heavy farm work and various live-in hired helpers including farm labourers Frank and Pete and domestic servant Annie.
