At age eight, Charles is the youngest diarist in our collection. Like most children, he enjoys reading, eating candy, playing with friends, and sledding in the winter. A typical day for Charles consists of “saying his lessons in school” and helping his father at the store. Young Charles demonstrates a perceptiveness that belies his age, evidenced by his impressive memory of who purchased what at his father’s store.  As an adult he becomes a noted psychiatrist and is included in the Dictionary of Canadian Biography.
