Christopher makes irregular but interesting entries.  He has a household of nine grown children between the ages of 17 and 35 who he deploys throughout the neighbourhood.  We learn most about his sons who work in the lumber shanties in the winter and at other times raise oats, peas, potatoes and pigs which they haul to Ottawa.  In 1871 he buys a threshing mill and thereafter keeps records of their custom work around Bells Corners.
