David begins keeping a diary when he is only eleven.  It becomes a life-long habit.  He records his work and family life at “Castle Farm” throughout the years.  In 1965 he sells the homestead and site of his birth and builds a new home across the road called “Castle View”.  He lives there until the 1980s when he moves to Fergus.  David is a local historian, poet and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Fergus.  He authors “Pillars and Patches along the Pathway,” a history of his beloved Nichol Township.
