George’s father had been the Lt. Gov. of Penang and gives George a yearly allowance. With capital and initiative George develops his locale. Feel his satisfaction as he expands his farm and furnishes Woodburn with buildings, roads, a school, church, mill and blacksmith shop.  Like his father, he believes that the elite must take a paternalistic role.  After the death of his wife and parents, George returns to Scotland, then remarries and resettles in Ancaster at the Hermitage, now part of the Hermitage Gatehouse.
