John is involved in local politics, serving in various municipal township positions over a twenty-two-year period: councillor, reeve, and warden. He also is the Liberal candidate for the riding of North Bruce in 1893. His leadership extends to church affairs and the Burgoyne Cheese Company too. John’s writing is difficult to read but by 1919, either his daughter-in-law or widowed daughter, who live in the house, start making entries. Topics then broaden out from farming and politics to include the Women’s Institute, social visits, and family life.
