Malcolm leaves the Parry Sound District in October 1898 to work for Mr. Hudson who is renting out a farm on shares near Myrtle.  He finds “Drudgery” there and dreams of being a writer for agricultural newspapers.  In April 1899, he leaves Myrtle to work as a foreman on a farm in Guelph.  His diary captures this brief period of working for Mr. Hudson.  In later life he becomes a noteworthy alpinist and writer in western Canada.  Mount Geddes is named after him.  Learn more about Malcolm in his mother’s diary.
