Aggie’s mother dies of tuberculosis when she is only nine months old. For the first thirty-six years of her life, she is raised by her Uncle Scholfield and Aunts Nellie and Mattie, half siblings of her fathers who live next door, none of whom marry. In her diaries, she writes of life on the Cooper and Cook farms and her social activities. In 1914 after her uncle dies, the three women move to Centre Street in the village of Thornhill where she continues to keep a diary and lead an active social life until illness intervenes in 1954.
