Mary is in her early twenties, single and living with her parents on “Tilly Creek Farm”.  She spins, knits, sews and quilts.  She keeps busy helping her mother with the housework and feeding the threshers, but naturally yearns for something more.  She is lonely, tired and depressed.  A transcribed copy of her diary is at Upper Canada Village and the original is at the Glenbow Museum in Calgary.
