Phoebe is single and keeping house with her widowed mother.  Her brother Charles and his wife, Rachel, and children live next door on the farm. Phoebe details their housework and her sewing and knitting.  Note her subtle sense of humour as she writes “finished sewing rags and am not sorry.”  She records taking tea with visitors and keeps us informed about the larger Quaker community in Norwich and friends and family who have moved further away.
