Rosamond is a competent and creative woman. John, a neighbour boy, frequents her first diary and later diaries capture their married life and children. Rosamond enjoys working with livestock and is an excellent horsewoman who rides side-saddle. She is well known for her vegetable and flower garden and excels at the domestic arts too, crocheting, tatting, quilting, and making hairpin lace. She even breeds canaries. Until 1959, she contributes to the diaries kept by her daughter, Melba Rosamond Sweet.
