Sun. 16th.. Nov/84 Got up late & S. & I had to do everything for Ida did not get up till 10 & Mr Broderick came B4 (we had dishes done & Ida went to Bronte to Johnstons for Ma's meat. Stayed down & got up & looked at Our Nov 19th../84. new dresses which E.M. & M.. brot home Sat night. Ida & I went to S S. & such a lot out to church. Bumby's down & Spears & every body, had a good sermon & E.W. walked up road with Ida & I alone. He came in & I lite fire in parlor & Frank away so I did all milking & Mrs Williams here also for tea Had a good talk & sing & E.W. gave me a birth day ring, very odd.

Mon 17th Nov. Washing. Frank went to Station to meet Uncle William & Aunt Ann from Toronto & I finished washing & straightening up. I picked up apples out of Franks road. I made a fire in parlor & us all in there in evening. Had grapes & us girls singing for Ma. I showed Ma my ring & M.L. said that it was an Alaska diamond.

Thurs 18th Uncle & Aunt went home. I got in cabbages & got some manure for sage & pansy's & boiled soap M.W. & I in P.M. put up little stove in dining room. I mendid E.M. coat & to bed. Very cold.

Wed. 19th.. We churned & it very thick & Dr's come B4 dishes done & M.W. & I emptyed vinegar barrel & I emptyed sage kettle. I pealed apples P.M. cleaned floor Miss Halloween here M.L. to Bronte & I making mittens & I went to Bronte about 5 for diary book: I finished mittens & Max came & us diging for coals.

Thurs. 20th Nov/84. After work done I sat by coal stove & mended drawers & not well. I went to Joyces with her Jacket. I got dinner. I went to burn rubbish while

I went to Bronte for Pa. After tea I darned Franks mitten & M.W. M.J. & I went to Teachers meeting. I fell down in lane. S & Ida both wanted to go but stayed with Ma. Had a pretty good meeting. E.W. there. I bundled up awful when I came away. We came home alone. Arthur B. here.

Frid. 21th.. 84. I swept & I husked a shook of sweet corn & got some cabbages in. P.M. I mended mittens & gloves Mrs McCauley come to see Ma & E.M. wanted me out so I went to pick up potatoes forthright We to bed early.

Sat 22nd.. Nov/84. I went out after Brkft & finished potatoes very damp & cold. I did work & sorted them. P.M. did scribbling & dishes & black shoes. M.W. finished S. dress & coat. I washed & to bed at 11.

Sun 23rd Nov/84. Pa has us up at 7 & it a raining very hard. I slept till 1. & I did not go to SS. B.4 did dinner dishes & dress & played for Ma. Archie S. & he here for tea. Mr Davidson called B.4. tea. I in parlor singing Max & R.W. came E.W. came in parlor but Max in Swing door. Got M.L. to play & then me & had a good talk with E.W. All went early.

Mon. 24th.. It very cold. M.W. & I carrie in 2 tubbs full of water. I helped with dinner. I sewing my drawers. I wrote posted card to Lottie Brimston & Ida posted it.

Teus 25th Nov. Snowed all day. I had a skate on our creek for 1st P.M. We all went down to practise for Xmas tree. In hall just to go for a

their. Had very little fire. Very cold. Went on to Wilson's after seeing Max & Davidsons in P.O. I finished crocheting on drawers.

Wed 26th..84. Washing large & finished at 2 & it late when I got down to practise in church. M.L. helped us & it dark when I got home. E.M. & Frank breaking in colt & they drove it up tp Burlington. All come in evening & invited us up to a Surprise party. I leaned to crochet my fastinator.

Thur 27th.. Nov/84. Rather warm & I ironing & I greasing bolts etc. I cleaned woodshed out & We all went to practise Edith late Lottie their & all the rest. Had long talk with Lottie Frank milked all. Mrs Williams came & E.W. & his pa after. Us girls all crocheting fastinator & had a good talk & song pm.

Friday 28th.. / 84 Ida & I went over to Broderick to help them peal but not ready to peal so we went in house & Mrs Coats there & had a little boy (4 yr) named Clarence & he just looked like Wilcox. Stayed little while & came home. Dr here & Amandia also. I swept up stairs & down in hall. B.4 dinner I getting ready for to go to party at Thompsons.

Dr said Ma getting worse & would suffer more. I sewing buttons on my coat & Rose Chap. came on errand for Mrs B. I finished coat. Mrs. Ing & Johnston came & stayed awhile Mrs John. for tea. I ironed a little. Had nice time. Frank drove S. up to party. I set bread. & crocheting.

Sat. 29th.. Nov. Ida went to help B. peal. I doing work when S. came home. She stayed at Brays all night. got their at 5 am. I scrubbed upstairs & cleaned windows. & I dusted P.M. very tired. Us all tired. S. said E.W. at party No talking about old time of B44.

Sun 30th.. Nov. All up at 8. I sang & I looking at poetry & I layed down ½ hr & all went to SS & church but Ida. Mrs Williams come after SS. to see Ma. Had missionary sermon & Minister drove M.W. & M.L. got a ride home. Mr & Mrs Bray here after church. I walked up with Mr Bk. Frank when {went?} with Minister to church. Alf came & S & him went for a drive in cutter. Ida & I singing for Ma when E.W. came us in dining & sitting room all time. Alf didn't stay long. E.W. here for prayers. He told one language Myrtle on stepts. Lovely night

Mon. 1st.. Washing flannels. I went to Mrs Mc{Cauley's?} in P.M. & Went to P.O. E.M. & M.L. there with buggy & E.W. come along & I had a talk. Come home.

men did shoes & did milking. I got ready for party. Ada Biggs called for to go to practise. Brays called for us. 3 girls & Dan Went to store. Got at Wixson B.4 rest. Over 60 there Dan made me dance & I danced with Alf & Mr Jeeland. Got home 3.15 Am. & up at 7.

Tues 2st Dec./84. S. slept till 10. I got work done & went to P.O. & there went skating on creek all alone ½ hr. Home for to get dinner ready. M.W. made {sittorn?} preserves. I layed down for ½ hr. then S. & I went over to Bk to peal apples Rosie & Jim & us singing. had a talk with Annie. Coming home, E.W. over took us & gave us a ride to lane gate & he carryed me. I crochet a little & went to bed 8.

Wed. Dec 3nd.. Had us up at 5. I felt ferful sleep. Us washing. Minister came after we got done dinner. had a sleep. I combed my hair on top of head & we churned. I wrote in this. Miss Carson here for tea.

Thur. Dec 4rd../84 I did work & then helped Frank with apples in shop. Ate large dinner & finished apples. Got dressed & went to Bronte. Mrs Ing & Mrs Brick here for tea. S. Ida & I went to practise;

Frid 4th../84 Warm & very muddy. I cleaned stove pipes varnised them P.M. M.W. helped me clean stoves. Ida went to practise. Us cleaning in hall Frank drive us up to Debate but was none & then went to church. E.M. went to Burlington in morning {Was?} to Hamilton.

Sat. 6th..Dec. Ma very bad. I swept up stairs, & I cleaned stoop. Crochet a little & got potatoes for dinner. It raining got work done Mrs Mowatt came & stayed for tea & all night. I singing for Ma. M.L. came home from Toronto through rain.

Sun 7th../84. Done breakfast 9.20. had a sleep M.L. trying on new Dog skin coat she bot. All went to S.S. I come home after S.S. Just home a little while when E.W. came stayed 1 hr. talking & then went out back door to escape Mrs Spears

coming here after church. He went to Milissa's I reading & to bed at nine.

Mon 8th../84. Up early & I churned & went over to Peal at Brodk. I ran to get a ride. M.W. come over & brot our dinner. Rosa come home & stayed all night. It rained & we did not go to practise but read dialogues & crocheted.

Thurs 9th../84 Dec. Over again to peal, finished at noon came home at 2. Mr Bray here. I crochet B.4 milking. S. & M.L. went to meeting Ida & I crocheting. Max came, telling us about being at Toronto. He went at nine.

Wed. 10th.. Dec. Washing till 3. I cleaned floor & dressed Mrs McCauley came. I wrote off dialogues for E.W. Pa got letter from G.A. about Max. Ida went over to Biggs Box tea. S had an invitation to a party up to Langtrys but not going. Us crocheting.

Thur 11th..Dec/84. Us girls went up to barn at 8 to husk corn & sorting husks for beds we finished at 2.30. Got ready in a hurry & went down to practise. Mr Johnston was there helping us. Had a good practise, dialogues, & every thing. Got home, milking was done. Ida & I went over to Brays for yeast had company with Rosa Chapman & Hattie & Effie Broderick. Got back 9. Crocheted & to bed at 11.

Frid. 12th Dec./84. Did work & S & I started to get ready for to go to Oakville but E.M. told us to wait till after dinner so had dinner early & we drove our selves. We went to Dr. Urquehart & got our teeth out. He pulled mine 1st & it broke & I had such a time & never got it out after all. S. gave such another scream & it all over. I had tooth ache very bad till I got home. E.W. came for me to go to Debate E.M. took M.W. & M.L. & Frank & E.W. took Ida & I. Got a good seat & debate pretty fair but I could not enjoy it on account of my tooth {root?} & head ache. There was a lot their. 11.30 when got home. Directly to bed.

Sat. Dec 13th.. Breakfast at 8.00 S & I churned. Dr came & I peal apples pies & did some work & had dinner. I slept till 3. & got up swept & dusted & did work & E.M. playing on violin. M.L. went to P.O. & got letter from Laura Jones with hair band & I one for me from Annie. E.M. went away & us darning & {?}

Sun. Dec. 14th../84. We sat around I played on Mouth Organ which I bot for E.M. at Oakville. I layed down & slept till 7 & got up & cleared dinner table for Delia & Miss Bouncil came to see Ma, & I ate my dinner in pantry & straightened around. I dressing when folks come from church. Archie & Minister for tea here: Archie drove M.L. & E.M. M.W. & Ida all went to church. Will Spears & his mother came. Had fire in parlor & it smoked awful could scarcely sit in room.

Mon 15th.. Dec. It raining & blowing & us all sitting sewing. Rosa & 2 Brodericks came & we all went to practise. Had a pretty practise such a lot of fellows there Had quite a time coming home I got my feet wet. E.W. came home with us. He lent me his flower book.

Tues 16th..Washing, got through early & I had all straightening up to do. Very tired. Wrote a letter to Annie & posted it. Ida & S. went to practise at Wilson I crochet. Ma very bad in P.M. To bed at 11.

Wed. 17th..Dec. Up early. I went over to get SS. prize money at Williams. Back by 9.15. E.M. M.W. & M.L. drove up to Hamil. I washed ribbons & I got dinner. I ironed Mrs Williams came to see Ma. Brot us money, for pealing at there place. Ida making pig.

Thur. 18th.. /84. Churning. It very cold. P.M. I wrote letter to Josie G.S. & Ida went to practise Rosa C. called for them & I stayed to wait on Ma. Ma fretting because folks not coming home. I sat up & crocheted untill Ida & S. come home at 11. I went to door & E.W. & J.I. there with them. E. W. & J.I. took all the girls that were at practise consisting of 7, to the "darky" cake walk. It 12 when got to bed.

Frid 19 Dec/84. I ironed wrapper & swept up stairs B.4 dinner. Ida & I finished dishes when Joe come up to see us. I dressed & to P.O. Cobblers & down skating. Had a splendid skate with E.W. He broke his skate. When Got home, E.M. & Maria's had just arrived. Everybody in a bustle. I got S. to write a card to Annue I crocheted a little & to bed.

Sat. 20th../84. Snowy. Busy all day. Ma worse & stayed in bed all day. Max came. E.M. brot home mail 1 letter for Frank 1 for M.W. & M.L. & himself & a card for S. from A. Us all looking at prizes & cards. I fixing corsets. After tea Ada R. & Mandia came & I just putting there things away when E.W. came, & went in kitchen & sewed & combed my hair. John Ing. came all came to practise dialogue. E.W. gave ma an ambertite {ambrotype} of his which he got in Hamilton to day, & also a Xmas present of a knife. Arthur called for Ada & all went 9.30 Mr Curtis came to see Annie about school. M.L. saw in Globe that Annie passed.

Sun 21st Dec/84. I got washed & ready early for S.S. Ida stayed at home. I taught Villa's class & stayed for church. It a good sermon. No one for tea. Mrs Hixson & Josh. here in Eve. Us reading.

Mon. 22nd.. Dec./84. They killed pigs I helped sew our dresses. Ed Lucas came early in morning to see Ma. I went down to P.O. & got letter card, for Annie from Mr Hodgins congratulating her for M.L. saw her name in paper. M.W. & I finished intestines B.4 dinner. Mrs. Williams came & Mrs McCauley. We went down to practise in church. E.W. W. S. J. I. & A. C. got home. Max came & went to meet Annie at train. Just got home. Sarah went over with Edith & brot all the teachers up home.

Tues. 23rd../84. Us sewing trying to get our dresses done. Annue & E.M. went over to Brodericks then to P.O. church & school examination I got dinner & I fixing fasten after Ida & M.L. went to church after dinner. Minister for tea. Max & Agnetta called to take Annie down to Xmas tree. Rosa & S. & Ida & I went. Ida & I met Alf at gate & he drove us down. It very warm & Church very crowded. Had very {fair? fine?} time. choir got treated off tree. Max came with Annie Alf with S. E.W. with me. & Minister after his box so at at once. It 12 & to bed.

baking bread & I washing. Ida went down to help clean church. Annie cleaning lamps. Archie S. come from P.O. with E.M. & had his tea here. They sang & played. Ida & I wanted to go to Baptist tree but it a bad night. I went to bed early at 10.

Thur 25th Dec. Christmas day. Very fine day. We all very busy all morning, Cleaning. Had dinner at 2. & E.M. took us all for a drive But Max came & took A. for drive. E.M. drove us in to Curtises we stayed a little while & had a nice time called in Williams's & not at home. When they came they made Ida. S. & I stay. Had a lovely time when we were thinking about going Max & A. came & it 10 when we came home. E.W. & Herbert drove us home. Spent a very Merry Xmas.

Frid. 26th.. Dec. Snowy, churning & I fixing clothes E.M. drove to Oakville & M.W. Annie & I went Took Jane & Lottie got home at dark. I bot Mouth Organ. M.W. sewing at Joe. shirt. To bed at 10. Ma not so well.

Sat 27th Dec./84 M.W. & I started to take up carpet in dining room when Dr. came. Mabel & Gordon came when at dinner. I cleaning woodwork & we got boys to help carry in stove & it took

till after dark. B.4 got done cleaning. Emily Triller & her father came & I playing mouth organ out doors. All very tired washed & to be at 10.

Sun 28th.. It very late when we had breakfast I played & sang & got ready for S.S. Came home after S.S. & kept house with ma. Mrs Jones, Lottie Bray called after church. Got tea early. Alf came when Frank & E.M. hitched up & Frank drove Mabel & Ida, S & Alf. Joe & I. Had good meeting it 9.25 when we got home. Max came & took A. away so Alf & S. went to meet them after we got home. Max & A. came 5 m. after S & A left Ida & I came to bed & left A & Max.

Mon 29th.. Dec. Washing. I finished cleaning, I layed down a few minutes to rest then got up & fixing belt & did work. Joe came up. E.M. came home from Hamilton, & he & M.L. went over to Brays party. I sewed fur on coat & to bed at 10.

Tues 30th Dec./84. Rater a warmed temperature got up late. Joe come up George Carpenter his Wife & child (Eddie) came for dinner & E.M. drove Joe up to train he going home. E.W. drove through on horseback. Annie & E.M. playing. I singing. Ida popped corn. Ma a little better. We made sausage A.M. I working hat band. All the snow gone. S. & I up stairs she is working band & I playing

mouth organ. Mr Brs. came & took E.m. to Trustee meeting. S & A & frank drove to Mount Pleasant church.

Wed. 31st Dec./84. I went to P.O. for {M.W.?} {Annie?} back help churn. I looking at my school books B.4 dinner. P.M. S., Annie & I cleaned floor every one busy baking. Mabel & Gordon went home on 2 train. I learn a new piece from Mable B.4 she went. Mandia Hixson called. Frank drove Annie & I up to church. Good meeting. Got home 9.30 Bed 10. Didn't watch old year out.

Tues 1st.. Jan 1885. } A vey Happy new Year work all done got dressed & I went down to Big creek to try ice B.4 dinner Got back had good dinner roast beef & whip cream & baked apples {meringe?} pie. I said I was as sick as sick when I got up from dinner & they all {malled?} me. I did dishes & {?} & Annie & I went down skating. Alf & Mr Skinah down. I came down & he skated with A. But I was alone so we came home. Ida & S. came down. When we got home Max their. M.W. helped milk, for Frank away. Max for tea. After tea we went in room & E.W. came & I had tooth ache. E.W. & Pa telling yarns. I had a nice evening playing games. E.W. said he going to begin letter for the new year. M.W. & M.L. fixed for party next night.

E.W. made bargain with Sarah for her to let him see A page of my diary for a quarter.

Frid 2nd Jan/85. S. & I washed flannels. ML & E.M. went to Oakville for kid gloves to go to Joe Wilds reception party. I Got dressed Mr Ing & Willie come. Annie went to P.O. & I went over to Tailor Joyces for W M. frame. E M. M.W. & M L. went to party, quite a time fixing.

Sat 3rd..Jan/85. Girls got home 3.30. M.W. up at 9. & M.L. at 11. I washed dishes swept upstairs & went back & washed more, dinner time. E.M. & F. killed pig. They telling us all about party dall day. S & A got dressed & went over to Ing & I went to Bronte with E.M. & Ing. Mrs Hixson & Josh here when got back. M L got card from Ella McKay. Alf came went to meeting with E.M. came home stayed got his horse went, came back with A & S & J.I. along came in house sat quite awhile. S put hat band in Alf cap. Ida & I fixing our dresses. 12.30 & to bed. writing my diary.

Sun 4th.. Jan/85 Had breakfast at 9. I slept till 15 min 1 hr. Had to hurry to get dressed for SS. we were late. Came home after SS. I played & sang for Ma. She took a walk to hen house. Folks came home from church Max & Mrs Curtis here for tea. Max A & I in

parlor when E.W. came. A & Max in hall talking while & I talking in room. We sang & played & Curtises went. E.W. stayed till after Pa read & then we all Sang for ma. Then he went at 10.

Mon 5th.. Jan/85. Washing got through by dinner I cleaned stoop when Melissa & Tom & family came. It election day. Mrs Williams, McCauley & Wilson all came. Us girls singing for children. Then S & I went down skating at 4. A had ½ holiday. Thompson girls all down & Villa Wilson & quite a lot nice day. E.W. engaged in election. I started hat band.

Teus 6th.. Jan Rainy. I ironing baking, P.M. I got out old letters & reading them, ironing a little more. I playing on mouth organ & girls singing. M.L. & E.M. went over to Brays to practise. Emily Triller called for them. I read a little & to bed.

Wed 7th.. Jan/85 boys went bushing. M.W. & I drove to Oakville very bad roads. Got back at dinner time. Finished & Pa & I doing chors. E.W. came for to go skating S & I went after a great while. It splendid.

skating. Had good talk. E.W. asked me questions on letters. I mending horse shoe blankets, & writing in this. Girls all sewing & mending. Ma helping. I called in at Melissa & got Jenny's P. doll to dress. Carnival in Oakville to night

Thur 8th.. Jan/85. Churning I went to I cleaned floor Mrs Bray came & Mrs Ing also. I went to Bronte with Mrs Ing. I saw Lottie B. & then A & I went down skating just Villa & E.W. Hattia B. & Al. there. Wasn't down long. When I was going down to P.O. met Aggie & Delia Curtis coming to our place. They here for tea. Had nice time. Max came for them at 8.

Frid 9th..Jan /85. I mending & fixing shoes {galoshes?}. I went up stairs. Got dressed & working at hat band. Amandia Hixson came to sew on our machine. I cleaning out side board. S & A went down skating about 5. Amandia here for tea. I had toothache & laid on sofa {all the time?.}

Sat 10th.. Jan /85. I worked hat band in parlor B.4 dinner P.M. got dressed & was ready to go skating when Edith & George Ing. came to go skating so A & I went quite a lot there. Max Emma Lottie & Ada Bray, E.W., Bob Joyce & a lot of fisherman had nice time. I killed chicken & pick it when Willie & Annie {Carry?} came. I couldn't write in diary for Willie making so much noise.

Sun 11th.. Jan/85. I playing mouth organ A. & Williie malling. We all went to S.S. I stayed for church. Ida & I walked home with George Peacock. Lottie Bray with Bert Langtry, & Jane & Albert Inglehart. Us girls singing B.4 tea & after tea B.4 done dishes & after dishes when E.W. came B.4 went in parlor & after went in parlor. Just tired of singing E.W. told us A & I all about sailing. Had nice time when E.W. was going Max drove Willie home. Go bed at 11.

Mon 12th.. Jan/85. The 2 A.'s drove Willie to Depot We washed. Gordon come on 12 train. Bob Joyce walked in from corner with him. I slept till 4. Gordon come & malled me. A & I in to organ. Then tryed to do rick rack & to bed.

Tues 13th.. Jan M.W. putting out clothes & I washed flannels. Ida went to P.O. I went down to see what the ice was like & went to P.O. E.W. down it very cold. Zillah & Nellie G. down I came home at 4 & Mrs Williams here I started to take G. & A skates down to them but I met them in lane so didn't go. I slept all evening for had toothache.

Wed 14th.. Jan. E.M. went with Dan Bray to Hamilton. I hlep get dinner cut up pumpkin

& ironing. {Clarry?} has been sick got up at 11. Ma not so well. P.M. started to write in diary Mrs Wilson & Taylor Granny Joyce & Edith Thompson called for me to go skating & Jane Bray came. It lovely day. Had splendid skate. Max John Ing. E.W. Charlie O. Al. Hare & lot more down Annie came down after 4. Had splendid time. Frank had work all done when I came home. I mending & writing. 10 & to bed.

Thur 15th..Jan/85. I darning most of morning & cleaning windows. It a lovely cold day. I had tooth ache after dinner so layed down Mrs McCauley & Ing. came. I got up & did work. Then Dr called. I pottering around. E.M. to Oakville. E.M. brot Jane over to go to practise M.L. & A. went

Frid 16th.. Jan/85 E.W. birthday aged 21. It a very stormy day. S & I churned. I cleaned floor & swept stairs B.4 dinner. I made S. bed played mouth organ & then dressed, mending. popped corn. Ma up. Tea late just got done when E.W. came I forgot to wish him -- Us in parlor talking about school times He stayed for prayers & then He & I in parlor & he showing me letters from A.R.R.M.E.B. I gave him hat band &

some pop corn. He got card from Villa C. for his birthday. Had hot drink then 12 go to bed,

Sat 17th Jan It still drifting. I went to go out to P.O. Johnson Mrs M & D. came very bad walking. John McD. called & took Carrie up to 12 train. S. went to see her on train S late getting back I was mending corsets. {Talear?}over came for E.M. to go to Hamilton M.W. & I drove him up to 7 train had good cutter ride. Carrie left her muff at station. To bed at 10. Ida trimming hat.

Sun 18th../85. Jan Nice fine morning. Got work done us girls sitting around stove singing & I playing mouth organ Mrs Wilson & Mr & Mrs Bray. I played mouth organ till I was dizzy. Got reddy in good time & Frank drove us to S.S. & I drove M.W. to church. Saw Sal. A. I put horse in my self. Max drove folks home from Church & here for tea. E.W. drove come when we were eating our tea. I hurried up & We went up to David Lucas {two words blotted out} & got warm & then we went to Appleby church Max & A. there. Had splendid meeting. Had nice time coming home talking. Boys came in & got warm & Annie made them some hot drink & to bed at 12.

S. Ida & Frank drove up to Mount P. M. cutter shake gave way coming home with 1 colt.

Mon 19th.. Jan. Sewing on machine E.M. & Dan B. started to cut ice. Pa went to see Mr Colton & he wanted cidar to drink so Pa sent me down with some. He looked very bad. Girls all went to Army {Salvation Army} but me & I set Bread & did rick rack.

Tues. 20th.. Jan. Washing flannels. I hitched horse & drove to Bronte shoping & home for dinner. I making Hair Pins tollet {toilette?} when Annie come home & she had letter for S from S.J.G & 1 for me from Grant such fun reading it. Coming in from barn when Alf came was going to church but we hadn't had our T. so we stayed & we singing in hall had nice time. Lost his mit. S. found it.

Wed 21st.. Jan. Washing again. I doing fancy work when A came & said E.W. was taking a lot load up tonight to Appleby so he came at 6 with a load & S. Ida & I Edith Ing. 3 boys {?} to Mrs Williams Mrs Spears Lizzie Carpenter, 3 Williams boys. Had a very happy time of it. Singing going & coming. Alf went to After E.M. & I also. Thur 22nd.. Jan. I layed down after bkft & then little of everything. Ida making rug. S ironing Frank doing some Natural Philosophy. We just got through when Mr Brod. came & then Mr & Mrs Johnson & Mrs Fletcher came Here for tea. Then all the choir came. I had tooth ache very bad. Then writing & to bed.

Frid 23rd.. Some what milder Dr. & his niece called while I was upstairs & I helping M.W. make twisty cakes when Mr Collamore here for dinner. Ida got letter from Eliz. Faylor & M.L. from Admina. I dusted after dinner in hall & then I swept upstairs & reading book got dressed mending & after T. mending Franks mit.

Sat 24th../85. Nice warm day. Churning M.L. drove M.W. & Gordon to station & they went on 2 train. Had Dan Bray & E.M. for dinner after 2. E.M. & Frank went to Oakville. Edith Ing. came & we had work quite done. When we were eating our tea E.W. & Alf came. Then sat in cutter quite a while & came & Alf came straight to table with overcoat & all on. Alf & S

went for a drive. After Ida & I finished dishes Edith was going so Ida & A went a piece with her while E.W. & I went to Sal. army. But 2 early & went over creek & back in time. S & Alf came & we went in to gether, very fair meeting. Then proposed going to Appleby church. Go bed at 12.

Sun 25th.. Jan. Up at 7 us hurrying around to get work done. I had mine done B.4 pa read after Bkft. Ma not in favor of us going up to Altons for dinner so Alf come with E.W. & then I thought E.W. wasn't coming so I was helping S. to get dressed when E.W. came & we kept them waiting for us that we were late. Had nice sermon by Mr Perrott for the seekers. Got home at 8. Boys put their horses in & had dinner They S. & I went to S.S. Ida taught my class so I sat down at stove & came home after S.S. met John Biggs with sleigh load. E.W. in parlor & Alf on lounge asleep & Ma sitting reading. I entertaining them in parlor & folks came home & E.W. Ida & I went over to Melissa's for tea. Will Lucas there had nice time. left at 7 & we went sleigh riding around block & home

at 8. Then S. came at 9. & A. & Max at 10. jan. Mon 26th.. Jan. We washed had difficulty getting enough water But got through & cleaned at 8. We were working fancy work & singing for Ma. Sal. pieces. Ida & I curling bangs P.M.

Tues 27th.. Jan/85. Cold. I ironing & mending coat & Jersey. Ella Mc came B. 4 had work done. I had bangs on & had my hair combed back. Annie came home & wanted Frank to drove & take a load up to Appleby. I helping him do chores & such flying around. After tea I helped him & it snowing. We went to Wilson But Villa up at Hopecott & Edith so then we went 7 got Ernest & George & they called at Hopecott & got Villa, Edith, Zillah & 3 Hopecott. John Ing. & Alfred S took home. B4 they were ready E.W. Annie Frnak & I playing tag around sleigh had such fun We had 15 of a load & it 8 at house & had to go to meeting. E.W. went to alter & felt so happy. It very cold coming home but had nice time. Frank got left & E.W. driving folks for T. & he don't know it But we told him

Wed 28th.. Jan./85. S. got up at 5 to get E.M. his breakfast & I slept till 8. & Frank milking done. It very cold. After work done I mending Frank's panse when Sarah Jarvis came for dinner. I layed down with tooth ache & slept till 4. Annie came home & told us about Harris going to take load to Appleby tomorrow Eve. Archie Jarvis came for tea then Archie Spears called & took M.L. & A. up to Trillers to practise Ma just middling. I playing I writing Ida covered box.

Thur 29th.. Jan. Very cold. I got beans & took them to barn & Frank thrashed them. I nearly froze. Coming to house the colt bothering me & bean cart came apart & such a time. S. came home from P.O. I mending my dress & combing hair when Will Lucas came. Ida scrapping C. horns. He stayed for tea. I had tooth ache & he went at 9. I reading cook book afternoon.

Frid 30th.. Jan. Very busy. Ida up early to get E.M.'s bkft. I melting snow to wash flannels. Frank & Ida went to Oakville. P.M. I swept stairs & dusted. M.L. drove E.M. to 2 train & she bot Mrs Douglas back when I was shaking rugs. Miss Hallem came also.

S & Ida counting eggs. Villa Wison came & I dressed & was working Hair pins "(toilet" Ida went to P.O. with her. M.L. & Ida drove to station for M.W. I playing & A & I singing. It mild & beautiful evening so A. & I went down to P.O. & met John Ing. & went over to Hall for an hour & then He come home with A. & I walked up road with A. B. & Arthur. I sat up till 11. all alone.

Sat 31th.. Jan/85 I bot 2 crates of apples in from barn & did work went to P.O. & Decker got card from Adrienna about coming up I had tooth very bad after dinner. got up at 3 & worked. Mrs Ing & Willie came got washed & went to P.O. got card from E.M. coming home on 6. Frank got horse hitched for M.W. to go to meet Ad. but E.M. come home & slipped off with it to J. McDuffies party (supposed) so girls walked up to meet Ad. Josh H gave them a drive home. Us girls laughing at tea. I working fancy work & to bed at 10.

Sun 1st.. Feb/85 I took sick early in morning & had very bad time. I layed till 12 & got dressed felt very weak. All went to SS & church so I got Ma some dinner & was reading when folks come from church. But Max called when Ma eating B. 4 she got up & he went & talt & talked to her. Mrs Williams in room.

& Minister here for tea. I ate none. I took some medicine (when E.W. & Herbert come & went to bed. Mrs W. fixing me & then I went & talked to E.W. in hall. He went at 10, after we had a scuffle over ginger tea.

Mon. Feb 2nd../85. I felt better & help churn & was crocheting between times. I reading to Ma. {Spercins?} sermon B.4 dinner. Us girls combing our hair. P.M. Got chores done & I was just going to go to tea-meeting at Mount Pleasant with E.W. But A. told me he told her he couldn't come. I got ready & Expected A E.A. but only Max came if couse when we didn't expect him & he & A. went while Frank drove two Maria's & Adrienna. S & I home. Frank went up {J?} to his brother.

Tues. Feb 3rd ../85. Washing finished up while other eating dinner. I had tooth ache & was very sleepy slept till 4. Us girls down in hall singing & Ida doing rick-rack & I crocheting

Wed Feb 4th.. I layed in house with tooth ache after bkft. I did Ida's work while she cleaned floors. Will S came to get E.M. to go to his bee. I had tooth ache after dinner & after it better helped go & hitch up horse for M.W. & Adrienna & they drove up to see Tilda.

I have short drive. 3 & they were ready Got dressed S & Ida comoing {combing} each other hair. I reading Flower book when E.W. came for he had been out shooting & shot large cat owl & S got wings off it & he & I deckorating each other & he got me to shoot his gun off & he went at 4.30. Had our tea when M.W. & Ad & Frank came & us girls in hall learning to dance. & it very warm in house so Ida & I went down to Army. Had a fair meeting got home 11 E.W. & J.I. came home with us had a good talk. A & S up still at 11.

Thur. 5th..Feb. I had toothache & layed after bkft till 10, & then helped Frank fan buckwheat till dinner. Dr came, & Mrs Wright. Frank drove M.W. & Adriena over to Brays while S & I went with him to Oakville. It very cold went & seen Delia Mc she treated us & we went to Dentist & I got my awful tooth out such a wonder & did more shopping & called in Brays & Brod. coming home & left word at Brod. for Annie & Arthur to be ready to go in our load to Appleby but it so cold & Eliz. Farfor & Wes drove up so we

concluded not to go & there Jim I drove M.W. & A home so we or we were going to tell Annie & Arthur we couldn't go & got M.W. & Ad at Brays so Annie & Arthur came home over to see if we had gone or not but wouldn't stay 1 min. Ida & I drove to Bronte after tea for sugar & I made a little taffy. Wes doctoring his horse Frank angry because I got him to hitch horse for the girls trying to write in this but had to wait till all in bed and it after 11 to bed.

Frid 6th../85 Jan Feb. After work done, I dressed my self & cracked some nuts for Ad. Then Wes & I drove her up to station & also to Bronte & come home as far as corner, met mail, so went back, but nothing, Ma bought candies. Ironing very busy & baking pies. I swept stairs & S. practising & Ida & I very busy after tea we played authors had good time.& to bed. Frank angry because didn't go but soon enough

Sat 7th.. Feb. Rather busy E.M. came home on noon train very nice day. M.L. M.W. went down to church & A. & I went at 4 down skating met Wes & E.M. coming back from dinner so they Wes drove us down, & he came back & got a pair of skates & came & stayed ½ hr. I had tooth ache & girls singing & to bed

Sun 8th.. Fed./85. Folks all went to church quartly meeting at 10. but Ida & I & Pa home. I had short nap & then dressed Ma & helped Ida with dinner. Got washed but ate no dinner but played. S & I done dishes. While

E.M. took M.W. M.L. A. Ma & Elly for a drive they went to Williams. I got dress out & Wess was going to take Ida S. & I on a drive when E.M. came & I went with hm , we went to Oakville met Wes & {?} E.M. & I went in Jessie Williams & stayed for tea. Had nice time, left after tea got home at 8. Nice warm eve. All the girls away. A & Max driving & S & Alf & Ida to Army with Wes & E.M. Mon 9th.. Very stormy morning. All up but Wes A. & I. we heard a crackling but thought it rats when Ida come up staaris & said house afire. Every one busy handing up water & after a great difficulty got it out but burnt a great hole top of house. Ma was frightened. Us sewing. I making hankerchiefs. Us girls down in hall singing & dancing. Had Wes helping us. Went to bed early. It raining.

Tues 10th..Feb. Very cold. Washing. Got through early. I cleaned floors off. Watson came. I dressed b4 working at hankerchief. E.M. drove Watson to 7 train. I went to sleep when a reading, got {wit?} drink & to bed.

Wed 11th.. Feb/85. Still cold. Had tooth ache after bkft. Did work & churning {?} Josh H came. Wes & Mr H went to school {Ma?} got her {?} {home?}. Ironing. Wes & I in hall playing. I showed Wes my gems.

M.W. made Eliz. a print dress. Us all busy at some thing. After tea I had toothache very bad. Wes & E.M. went to Army but E.W. came as they were going. He got me up & us girls & Frank & E.W. all ravelling old stocking for rug had fine time. Then M.W. made taffy & Pa read & after we all had a taffy pull. I got ferful dobbed & E.W. took off his coat & I got ... too. Had such fun. Never witnessed taffy pull B4.

Thurs 12th.. Feb/85. Eliz. working at rug & finished it. I started another & Ida finished hers also. Wes & E.M. went to Oakville I had T.A. very bad. I getting dressed when Wes called me to go for a drive so Ida & I went down to school for Annue, but too early so drove around blocks met E.W. spoke. Max drove down in eve. E.M. & Ma went for drive after tea & M.W. Eliz & I drove down to Army. Horse fell down going in church gate & M.W. frightened Had a good meeting. E.W. there. Came home B.4 it was out.

Frid 13th.. Feb/85. S. finished hooked rug. I had all Ida's & my own work I busy all morning sweeping. S & I dressing when Mrs Williams came & M.L. sleeping so no one went to door. I darning & S. Ironing. M.W. went to P.O.

Sat. 14th.. Feb/85. Valentine day. Nice day very busy baking all morn & cleaning stove pipes in P.M. busy cleaning. M.L. went to P.O. in morn. I had T.A. after dinner. Eliz & George came drove up at 5. I went to P.O. after tea S got Valentine very ugly & M.L. very pretty. Got bed at 11.

Sun 15th..Fen. Sang & slept all went to S.S. I stayed for church & after went in Sal. Army. Had Mrs Spiers & Minister for tea. Hurry to do dishes & E.M. drove M.W. Eliz. A. S. & I up to Lillies but we were going on to Appleby church & leave Eliz at Lillies but thot it 2 late so stayed there 1 hr. & drove home. Sang with G.A. & to bed 11.

Mon 16th.. Feb/85. Hurry to get off G.A.'s. started at 8. Stormy. I learnt how to hem hankerchief new way. Mr Johnston called to see pa. I helped pa put bob sleighs in barn. Pa came in in a hurry for he had found part of GA's harness which he had left by mistake & he wanted me to go to Station so I started

on a walk but Mr. Skirrat over took me & gave me drive up there. He taking up their Boys. Minister so he said he {?} of take the parcel & deliver it so I let him. I cutting a quilt blocks out for to begin a quilt of my own. S & I went to P.O. & Army but not a public meeting so did not stay but went to Wilson's & we had a skate above Sal. {Lass.?} & S & home at 9. It very cold. A & {D?} up to

Rues. 17th.. Feb. Very cold: I caught a cold & sore throat. M.W. has also. Churning & S & I had every thing to do & it noon when got done. I cut patches. S went down & got Annie & they went over to Mrs Ing. & got home 10. Max & Ed. Lucas came & stayed till 12. I talked to Max till 10 & they went to bed. I very sick

Wed 18th.. I got work done & slept till dinner & melting snow. Miss Ha{? ink blurred} came & I mending a boiler when {?} agent came. A. had a letter from Ida {Taty?} to me I did chores & writing O playing & A making dress. Wed 18th..Feb /85. I wrote letter to Ida.

Thur 19th.. Feb. S & I washing all alone she & the girls doing house work. I went & got apples to barn & we finished at 8. Mrs Wilson & Oliver Horning came B.4 us through. Very tired just got set down when Army's came home. Horning stayed all day left at 2. S went to {baking?} all alone. I busy. I & S done a little while & sewed. Sat 21st.. Feb. Very busy I sweeping downstairs just got through when Mrs Jones & Millie came & then Willie went over to see E.W. & then took his mother over to Brays for dinner & back here for tea. Had it at 4.30. Us girls got dressed & singing for them. Mrs McCauley came & they all went. Jones's going to drive home to Hamilton. Doing night work when Willie W. & Aunt Eliza came & I finished hankerchiefs. Max & E.W. drove up to see Willie. I did not see them. They did not stay 5 min. To bed at 10.30.

Sun 22nd.. Feb. Ella Mc..Cauley's birthday Late getting work done just done & {ink blurred} to SS. All went a little late. I came home after met E.W. & his Pa at church gate spoke & I came home layed down had tooth ache. Had Archie S. & Willie & Aunt were the strange one. After T I did work & A & I combed our hair & Max came & took Archie for Alf. Then E.W. came & A & Max went for drive. Us singing, all evening then

S played & we eating apples Pa read & Max went & Archie & E.W. at 10.30. We talked about religion, & A & I {flap?} & to bed 11.

Mon 23rd.. Lovely day. Willie went down to S with A & come back & started for home at 10.30. Got work done & I finished name with in hanker. I brot some wood from barn on hand sleigh & then hitched on E.M. sleigh & went to P.O. Saw Jokias Skinah. Williams, John I. & several other I watched boys sleigh ride down hill for a while just lovely day. I melted snow & was darning when Max drove A. home from school, & Maggie Mc came & stayed for tea & S A & I went home parte with her & we took hand sleigh & rode each other & I steared them all down hill by mill & came home tired, & went to bed at 9.

Tues 24th.. Feb. Washing , very tired. Mrs. Williams came B.4. were done & I got cleaned up at 4. A came & said E.W. skating on Lake & wanted us to go to Army but I didn't want to go so after tea I did, But A. wouldn't go then & Archie S. came to go but no one went with him. I was just out so I went & had 2 or 3 sleigh rides & writing in this. I put some 2 blots in this just for me scratching a little on cover of her. To bed 9.30.

Wed 25th.. Feb./85. A very lovely day I ironing & I carried meat out of cellar to smoke house to smoke & Emily Triller came for dinner had an early dinner & M.L. & her went mission, driving around Bronte while S. & I got work done early & went with hand sleigh behind bob sleigh up to Hixson's for a few snow apples for Ma. I had (fun?} good time coming down hill on sleigh. Mrs Belyea & Emma & Sandie came to see Ma & Mr Bray here also. S. not ready to go with me skating so she got me to get her coat & hood for her so, I did. We had a lovely skate on the "Lake." I was with Bob Joyce & S. with J.I. We were out about 1 mile got ride up to corner with Archie & he asked us to go with him to carnival. Annie had school girls up singing for Ma Sal. songs. S & I doing dishes when Alf come & S & he went a driving while E.W. & I went to Army had pretty good meeting. J.I. with A. & G I were going home. Mrs McCraney & Jim Joyce here.

Thurs 26th.. /85. Ironing done B.4 dinner East Wind & not so warm. S & I went down about 3 & had just a grand skate S & J.I. & I alone went down to Orr's barn & up to in front Ing. could see the bottom & plain as day

I never saw the like B.$. I never skating on such nice ice. The School Bell rang when we were down at Orr's so went back & Annie came down to skate & I had mouth organ & the wind blew me up while I played it. I came up by Ing. & home but A stayed for tea. We had Mrs Hixson & Wild for tea. M.W. very sick. After tea talking Archie came, M.L. & Emily came for practise books & Hixsons cutter & ours making 4 cutters in all at once in yard. Archie coaxing Ma to let us go with him but she wouldn't consent untill Pa was asked so he said he didn't care. A. E.M. went to practise M.L. fixing the sick. I mending mitt.

Frid 27th.. Feb./85. Stormy in morn. but nice after. S. finished ironing. I sweeping in hall & stairs B.4 dinner. I got dressed & went to P.O. purchising & waited till A. came from School. She got letter from E.I. & we reading it coming. After tea S & I getting ready for carnival when J. Ing. came & Arthur & Annie & Mr Hodgins came to take a load to Palermo so A.M.L.

& J. Ing. went. S. I. waiting patiently for Archie so after a little while we went Lovely night He treated us to candies to can in Delia's & E. M. & Jane Bray went to rink also. Had nice time I fell down twice. After it over we walked up to Tailers Temperance house & had oysters. Got home 12 & to bed B.4. E.M.

Sat 28c Feb/85. Nice warm day. Had several children coming for milk. Busy all day. George Williams here for ½ hr after dinner & Ita hitched horse for Ma to go over to Brays M.L. & M.W. went to S & I darning A. went to P.O. Had a Gent come to see E.M. away to Oakville with Dollie & Hetty. I got new stockings home & fixing them & I got letter from Ida. busy writing to bed at 11

Sun March 1st../85. It a mild day. I got washed & dress & we all went to S.S. I got my feet wet & I came home after S.S. but stayed till church commenced & when I came out E.W. & Max standing talling out side. I singing & playing when they come but I did not speak to them untill folks come from church & we were singing B.4 went to church. Had Minister for tea. E.W. & I in parlor

talking about Sal. lasses etc. I played & sang & then A. played & E.W. S & I went down to Army. Mr & Mrs Johnston came up. Had a good meeting John I. came home with S. & I 11 when got home.

Monday 2 March./85. We washing got through at noon. I started to write to Ida. E. M. with colt & M.W. went for a drive. I went to bed B.4 rest. Us girls singing for Ma Mar came to see A for 10. min.

Tues 3rd.. Mar/85. Ironing finished it I helped with dinner but ate none I had head ache & I slept a little while. E.M. missed his train & he went around the house & in the house & Ma got so {excited?} that she couldn't finish his dinner & we all got sick. I went to bed & slept We got work done & was dressed when Mrs Williams, Mrs Wilson & 2 Sal. lasses came & had a good meeting & we just getting tea early & Alf came. I getting dressed when Edith came & then Max came & we all went to Appleby tea-meeting Alf & S ahead Max & A & then E.W. & I We sat behind Sarah. I had a nice cosy little corner & we were early enough too. Church just full. They made $85.

I had a splendid time. Singers were Bessy Appleby. Harris Bro. from Milton & Miss Galtaway from Burlington & Mary Morris from Milton recited several pieces very good. A load of Middleroad folks come & could hardly get a seat. We left at 11 for home & E.W. & I had a race with 2 loads & we passed them fair but one of the other load when {went?} to pass us & one came nearly on top of us & so we turned out but it wasn't fair for they should have turned out & not come over us. But we escaped all right. & we sat talking after we got home & when E.W. turned around he up set quietly & we had such a laugh for he was joking about up setting but I had the laugh on him, Because I wasn't in it. S & A later coming. To bed at 1.

Wed 4th.. March. Up at 7 & did work & churning & E.M. going to Hamilton so I got ready & went along. He driving colt & taking Buggy on top of Sleighs. We got up their at 2. Had a lunch, & I nursed baby till Mable came from school & her & I went over to Dairy & took Frank Wright's coller to him but did not see him so I left it with his father & Mable & I went in fire brigade & fireman showed us

all around everything it just grand something never saw B.4. We went home, had our tea & Jennie & I went down to Roller skating rink & I put a pair on & Will Jones there & he lernt me to go. He introduced me to another gent & he went skating with a girl I soon lernt how to go I had 1 or 2 tumbles but soon succeeded in learning. Got home at 10.30 & did not get to sleep till 1.

Thur 5th.. Jennie Mable & I went down shoping & I went in McCrae & bot rubber where S.J. Gallegher is & saw him & then went away to down to Eckersons new gallery & asked for Grant & had quite a talk & came away. It 11 when got home so Mable & I went down to Wallaces till 12 & came back got dinner & went over to Dairy to go home but E.M. not ready so went down to Wallaces again} she came back with me & E.M. & I started home 3. but didn't reach home untill 7. Girls went to practise & Aunt E. Walton here. Go bed at 9.

Frid 6th.. March. I wrote or finished my letter to Ida Mr & Mrs Bray called. M.W. put quilt on frame in parlor & they finished it. I layed down after work was done in P.M. & then got up at 4 & played & sang for Ma She not so well today. Had tea early & M.W. & E.M. went to Oakvulle at 6 & back at 8. S & I

writing when Josh & Amandia came. To bed at 9.

Sat 7th.. March / 85 I was sick early in morn. Stormy. Did work & went to Bronte P.O. & Deckers for Pa, shoes. I walked back with Ada Biggs, & I walked home slowly. I got 5 letters. 1 for A. 3 for M.L. & 1 for S. M.L. & E.M. drove the colt up to Palermo A.M. P.M. Aunt went up to Hamilton on 2 train. I sweeping & dusting all after noon. I ate my supper with Pa & had a short skate on our pond.

Sun 8th.. /85 March. Got work done. I caught a fresh cold. S & A went & waited on Ma while others went to S.S. I got dressed then folks came home from church we had Archie for tea only. Ma very bad all day. I playing & then A & Archie came & sang & then E.W. came & played & I & E talked. then M.L. & M.W. Archie & E.W. went to Army E.W. & I had a good talk & S playing. I got out letters & let E see one & he got them & went off. Then I went to get them & E.W. ready to go so we went out in kitchen & he started to smoke & we girls went for him & we had a pillar fight such fun. He just went when folks came from Army. S & I in pantry & Archie saw us. To bed at 11.

Mon 9th.. March. Fine in morning after work done I got dinner my self It very stormy after dinner E.M. went to Palermo. Us Girls quilting. Ma pretty bad. Mack. drive A. home from school & stayed a little while & I quilted till 7. After T I mended wrapper & quilted a little & writing J. I. came & girls singing in hall. Mr Just. came & E.M. talking. Got quilt done. Blew so hard in night.

Tues 10th.. M. Fine morn but windy. We washed got through at 3 & dressed at 4. I wrote letter to Jennie W. & A wrote some also. Mr & Mrs Broderick here & I had tooth ache but got up & going for them & E.M. & A played organ & violin. They went at 7. Ma a little Easier tonight. Very cold. Pa made pen Coop for setting hens. E.M. went to Palermo in P.M. with potatoes.
