9th I wrote a letter to Susan Seabrook a card to Mary $1.45 for groceries 20 cts for meat 25 cts for Eqp Liniment Mrs Gonyou gave me $500 payment in full for first payment on prop for 1909 have left about nine O'Clock $25.33 cts I agreed to let the Town council put water in barrack & sewer to wall I made the agreement with Norm Gardiner at 40 cts a yd I traded Dick horse with Herb McArdle for a new run about with rubber tires I gave hom $10 difference he took the horse this eve. I went for a drive this eve with it 50 cst for envelopes 2 cts for a stamp $100 to Jack Leeder.

10th have this morn $14.81 cts I made an agreement with Gordon Latham to do Pluming of water

Pipes in barrack he is to do a good job for $6.75 I started to cut cross on Dillon job Ross G. & Billy Scott came in this eve I gave Mary $250

11th I got ready came up to shop gave Mr Kenny $100 we left for the 8.30 Train for Ottawa $1.70 for ticket got to Ottawa about a quarter after twelve 5 cts for street car fare 25 cts for dinner we took in Parliament Buildings then the Museum the Experimental farm 10 cts for fare out & back 8 cts for banas spent 20 cts 25 cts for supper 5 cts for fare to train left about half past seven got home about half past eleven was a nice day Mary & Mildred went to Ogdensburg

12th Ross & Billy went home this morn & Mildred went with them Rob M. & Annie came in stayed for dinner & tea I got some gall cure 25 cts Mary & {illegible}

Barry a card to Joshua Smith Mr. McDonald paid rent $1300 I got R. C. Haskin note cash got $29.75 on it I gave Jack L. $2000 and $1100 to give Mr. W. E. Kenny have left about two O'Clock $18.66 cts this 11$00 pays Mr Kenny in full

18th I gave Mary 45 cts we left about three came out to Jim's had tea on to Lyndhurst then to Rob G. stayed alnight

14th came to Morton got Andy we came to Portland moved Scovil job gave Ross Cannon $1.50 for teaming spent 15 cts paid our bill $1.50 came by Elgin home got a shave 10 cts got to Andy about twelve was a nice day there is $28.00 coming to me for moving Scovil job

and for lettering I paid Mr. Hawes $800 for foundation & 50 cts to finish it up at bottom

15th came up to Ross in fore-noon we all went up to Bobs for dinner Ross & I went in to Aunt Anns a few minutes we left about five had tea at Ross came as far as Moultons stayed alnight it rained nearly all the after-noon

16th rained nearly all the fore noon we got to town about noon 40 cts for 1/2 bu. of Potatoes 54 cts for 2 lbs of butter have left to-night $5.48 cts

17th 15 cts for meat I letter footstone for Ritchie job and loaded it bargained with Webster for a horse for the rest of this week at $100 a day 10 cts for cuttle fish bone was a nice day

18th I started about six O'Clock with Ritchie job & B.B. for Donaldson job got to Mr. Ritchie about twelve had dinner he had foundation in I had to get his team to haul my load in cemetery had tea with them they paid me in full $7500 I gave them $1.00 left about half past five got home at ten was a cloudy day with a little rain in morn & eve had N.Websters horse to-day rained a little

19th I have this morn $79.23 cts paid a note in bank of $5000 some duty on marble $1.40 freight $3.92 loaded Richardson G. Base & B.B. took them down to Halstead bay this after-noon loaded Donaldson job in eve I gave Mary $300 this morn Mr. Donaldson paid me in full $1600 got home about 20th nine O'Clock it rained a good shower out there

20th loaded Smith job left about half past seven got out a little before eleven got through about seven they paid me in full $8000 & old monument I got home about nine was a lovely day 10 cts for shave I took Webster horse home this is 4 days I have had him & I owe him $400

21st loaded Smith job this morn got to cemetry before eleven got it up about seven they paid me in full $8000 & old monument got home about nine got shaved 10 cts took Websters

horse home this is 4 days I have had him was a lovely day got a letter from Mrs Susan Seabrook for $2500 or a cheque for the Amount

22nd Went to church this morn 45 cts for the last three sundays was a lovely day

23rd have this morn $215.36 cts & a cheque for $4500 & one for $2500 I wrote card to Mrs Godkin & J.W. Russell of Delta got the two cheques cashed cost 35 cts got a money order for V.M. Co for $24.40 cts cost 10 cts sent it & got a draft for Jas. Hutcheon for $200 sent it Mr. Carey was in this eve & paid me for posts $700 25 cts for fish bone spent 10 cts loaded Preston job this eve got two shoes on Nellie wrote to Newboro Station agent a card 1 cts I hauled up 16 post from station

24th 94 cts for 1/2 bu of potatoes & 2 lbs of butter 5 cts for peanuts have left at noon $66.06 cts

I got a horse from N. Webster left about two O'Clock with Preston job had tea at Moultons had my own oats came on to Mrs G.'s hitched Nellie on his buggy went to Delta stayed alnight was a nice day.

25th I called on Johnnie Russell & Mrs M. Godkin came on to Lyndhurst Geo. Charlton took my measure for a suite of clothes as $1600 suite came on to Rob's had dinner left about half after one for Crosby Newboro had tea at Geo. Church's 25 cts & 35 cts a Mrs Hull for oats got to Newboro about seven got a shave 10 cts My Hotel bill at Delta was $1.25 got two pair of boots one pair $300 & the other $1.75 & $100 for 3 whips I gave Ross one & Ro one 10 cts to horsler spent 10 cts

26th Mr. Graham helped me from about 8 O'Clock untill twelve to move Preston base & Cross to cemetry & to onload my load 25 cts for use of waggon to Mr Bolton $1.40 freight on cross & $990 on base called on a Mrs Richards sold her $11500 job paid my hotel bill $200 & spent 10 cts let about half past two for home spent 25 cts got to Mr. G about a quarter to seven had tea Ross hitched colt on buggy took one to Lyndhurst we got back about nine I came to Town got in after one was a lovely day. Ross gave me $51.50 cts to pay a note of $52.30 I told him I would pay the balance of 80 cts for the bother I have given him I gave Mr Graham $1000 on what I owe him for foundation 70 cts for something cannot think what{erased out but still legible}

27th I took Webster horse home came to Kingston on boat it left at Eight got to Kingston {illegible} after ten spent 5 cts 25 cts for dinner got two hammers from Mr S.J. Kilpatricks am to return them the last of next week I gave Mary 5300 to pay Ross note of $5230 got home about six was a nice day 25 cts for ticket on boat

28th I got some hammers fixed at Seal Bro's for cutting wash on Preston Base wrote a card to John Graham & on to Lyn Station Agt. gave Jack L. 500 loaded Dillon job got a horse from Webster Calvin Robinson went with me we got away about a quarter to one left 29th for home about seven 50 cts for ferry it rained a lot to-night I gave Mary $500

29th Went to church in morn 10 cts we went out to E Pages after dinner

drove Run-a-bout stayed for tea was a very cool night

30th I got ready for Newboro 21 cts for 3 lbs of Dry white lead got 2 shoes on Nellie left about half past two for Newboro had tea at Andys got to Newboro about nine & gave Gerry 5 cts was a cool day have left to-night $21.25 cts I sent a card to S.B. Norton & a letter to Thos Dillon with his bill for Monument in A for foundation

31st I went up fixed wash on Preston base got through at noon got a young Lake to help me erect it gave him 75 cts got it all up about five all but cementing I drove to Westport to-night left horse at hotel called on Dr. Berry he gave me a cheque for $31.25 pay for his share in monument and said Will wrote him he was satisfied with it {bottom cut off page}

Leggetts on to Sarahs a few minutes then to Andy's had tea on to Lyndhurst got my clothes at Geo Charlton's $7500 75 cts for a shirt & $1.50 for a heavy lap cloth I gave Mr. John Graham $100 pay in full for help at Preston job came on to uncle John's stayed alnight was a cold day 10 cts for Paint oil

up called on Mr Eaton he agreed to give me the job of cutting his wife's ins. on Mon when he want it done on to Town got in about half past twelve R. Moulton & wife & R. Gamble & wife were here for dinner & tea and Mrs John Kirkland & Charley for dinner I got a draft for Jas. Hutcheon for $30000 got Dan McConnells laundry 24 cts have to-night $53.06 cts.

3rd I wrote to W. Brown W. Stafford W. McCullough R. J. Latimer Sarah Fraser Jos. Revers Helen & Gamsby Ab. Wright were all letters a card to Harry Smith Wm Vanderburg

4th to had a settlement with Jack L. gap to finishing of White job gave him $2600 owe him $6500 he stoped work at noon I went to Gideon Scott said got a picture frame 70 cts 2 lamps 40 cts beadstead & spring 1.50.30 {illegible} set 15 cts toilet set 50 cts John A Picture 25 cts I gave Calvin Robinson $100 for his help a week ago to-day 25 cts for chases pills paid my dues in C.O.F. for July & Aug $2.20

5th Jim Jack & Frank came in for dinner & tea Mary went out with Frank in eve I got a ticket for Toronto $4.65 I owe 10 cts on it yet we missed the little train and had to drive out to Junction it left about one O'Clock I left mare at Mr. Haslers he is to take her in to Town for me & Jack Garrau is to look after her Jacob & Jim & I went to church in eve on Sunday 20 cts it was a showery day I got $2.90 from Mary to-day

6th we got in to Toronto about seven 50 cts for tickets for street car 25 cts admission to ground 25 cts for dinner Tom McMillan paid for my tea 50 cts for 2 fountain {illegible} & gave one to Tom 25 cts for a can opener & a thing to sharpen knife on 30 cts for pears was a nice day 10 cts in Midway

7th I paid for our lodging & breakfast 300 is to be 75 cts each came down got a ticket for DaleHouse 1.00 left at night 8 O'Clock on boat got of the boat at Dal House took Electric car to Niagara had dinner at hotel 50 cts $100 for ticket on beltline went down Canadia side to across at Queenston up the American side to the Falls I got a sovenir 25 cts we got back to Toronto about half past ten had a lunch at Restaurant 20 cts Tom & I went up street 25 cts for a razor strap 50 cts for a fountain pen Tom gave me $100 to pay for his lodging & Street car fare I borrowed 25 cts from him this eve we got in about twelve was a nice cool day Jas Mc paid for my lodging last night this squares he & I 20 cts for a celoid collar at Niagara 25 cts for Street car tickets this eve. 30 cts for a watch chain

8th we took in the bell line Geo B Jas. Mc. & I went to fair Ground 25 cts admission 25 cts for dinner Tom Mc & James G. found us at noon we left the ground about six came down & had our tea at Mrs Stevens Shipmans 25 cts came home on the 8.30 train got home about three Geo. Jas & Tom came down & went to bed Geo paid me what he owed me 75 cts was a nice day 15 cts for shave

9th I gave Tom 25 cts this settles us up in full we all went up to B. Shields for breakfast 25 cts spent 25 cts a bottle of ink 10 cts have left about half past ten 8.50 got two loves of bread 12 cts a Doz. buns 10 cts got Dr. Berry's cheque cashed $31.25 cost 10 cts paid Mr Webster in full $800 wrote to Js Moulton Doz. cakes 20 cts 2 lbs of butter 5 cts a can of

salmon 15 cts paid G. Latimer for putting water in S.A. to Hall 6.75 Mr McDonald paid rent for S.A. Hall $1200 and $100 on what he owes the $400 he owes me for painting I have this night $38.04 cts. Frank Tye & wife & Patience were here for dinner and tea also Maggie Singleton Jacob & Jim for tea Frank paid me for Dan's laundry 24 cts I got three lbs of cheese 50 cts 10 stamps 20 cts wrote to Geo. 11th I have this Morn $37.52 cts I wrote to W.J. White a card to Alex Fraser & Co. got a cheque from Mr Harte cashed $13.90 cts cost 10 cts paid for putting water in S.A. B $16.65 ordered 3 sacks of cement $1.32 from T. & G.

13th I started for Younge Mills about six O Clock got to Mr Jas. Purvis at noon Peter took his team we came to Lyn G.T. station got bottom base of White job $ 65 Freight & 25 cts storage on it had tea I onloaded my waggon was a warm day

14th I put foudation in was an awful warm day started for home about

half past four stoped at Wm Moultons for tea got $3.50 to Mr Asselstine for fixing Geo. Charlton watch home about half past ten I did not settle with Mr. Purvis for trip to Lyn or for board Mr. Kenny cut to Marker bases

15th $1.10 for C.O.F. dues 20 cts for a Doz. pears gave Mary $200 have left to-day noon $15.49 cts I gave Mary $200 this fore-noon Jack Garah & I went up to put McMurcly foundation in did not get it all done I gave Willie Little 10 cts for sand & owe Bob Jackson $$100 for helping me I gave M Asselstine $3.50 for fixing Geo. 17th I helped to milch came on to Mrs Jas Purvis Peter helped me erect monument in after noon it was after seven when I got through to-night There bill for board and hauling base from Lyn was $100 I paid this got to Mr Moultons about half past ten was a nice day

18th I helped to milch & to load 3 pigs got home at noon Mr. Thos. Berry paid me in full for his share of monument

20th I wrote cards with receipts on to W.J. Berry Mrs C.W. McCullought Mrs Annie Vanderburg. Jas Moulton and a card to Mrs G.W. Baker Miss Sarah Fraser letters to Mr Rev. H.S. Harte also White Fraser. W.J. White got McMurcly job ready Mr Kenny & I took it up in after-noon got a horse from Mr Webster there is $110 due me on it I paid Jack Garah $1.25 for what he helped me last week was a nice day have left to-night $140.64 cts

Toppingham of Harlem with $2000 in it to apply on sister I wrote him this eve put the $100 in envelope and a new one for $2000 for him to sign & return left the letter for Jack L. to mail to-morrow I went up to Willowbank in after noon cleaned of McMurcly's lot Mr Sam Clark helped me I also cleaned two stone on the plot was a nice day Mr Kenny got through work this fore noon he has cut two markers

23rd I came out to Elgin got Mr. Leggett we went out to Mrs W.T. Leaggetts back to Elgin had dinner & horse feed 65 cts Mr C.W. Brown paid me for lettering Chisholm job 9.00 I went up got Topping job ready for

gold leaf on to Phillipsville got Beable job ready for G.S. back to Andys for tea it started to rain about half past four and rained very hard I came up to Bobs stayed alnight we went in to Aunt Ann's to see mother a few minutes

24th We came down to Ross took his horse took Dora in to Aunt Anns left her with Mother Ross & Alice & Rob & Edith and us went to Lansdowne fair had dinner at Goodalls I paid for them 2.40 for the 6 meals Ross paid me for his 80 cts Bob paid for {illegible} tickets 50 cts & owes me 30 cts yet on dinner & each of them 35 cts each for horse feed at noon $1.00 for the horse feed we all had supper at Geo left for home a little after seven was a nice day and night Mr. Thos Wallace paid me in

full $2.60 Mary & I stayed at Aunt Annes to-night I gave Borden 5 cts to-day

25th We came out to Ross got my own mare Andy came up we went out Oak Leaf fixed up Earl O. Johnson job had dinner at Mr Johnsons out to Phillipsville put gold Leaf on Beadle job on to Elgin put gold leaf on Topping job had tea at Pats 75 cts spent 15 cts got to Bobs about nine was a nice day

25h I went in & got mother we all came down to Jims I came across from Sweets around the lake left after dinner for home Patience gave me $80 that Mrs John Leadbeater left with her for me this pays her bill in full I gave Patience $500 for a pair of blankets we got home about five I went to church 15 cts it rained some to-night

28th Jack L. & I left about seven for Ebenezer cemetry I marked inscription on Bradley job came back to Town about eleven I brought some stove pipes down from Barracks & took waggon up to get a tire set I took J. G. Chapman's not to bank got it cashed $2000 went & paid my taxed $66.15 cts Abe Street left me 25 bu of oats at 38 cts a bu. comes to $9.50 this is to go on paying for monument ordered by John Street I wrote to Sam Stevenson a letter a card to Mrs Geo. Chapman spent 10 cts Mrs Gamsby sent me 3.00 pay in full of act. have left to-night $10.06 cts 6 cts for a loaf of bread after the 10.06 leaves $1000

29th I came down to Halstead Bay cemetry built foundation for Alex Richardson job Jack L. helped me in after noon about three hrs we set the two bases Fred & Roy were both here in after-noon was a cloudy day Jack finished lettering Bradey job to-day got through about two O'Clock we stayed at Geo. Bryan's to-night had tea & lodging

30th I settled with Mrs Bryan $100 we came to Town it rained on us about all the way home got home about ten I marked Ins on Rowswell after dinner 56 cts for 1/ bu of corn 63 cts for 1/2 bu of wheat for hens 5 cts for peanuts 5 cts for candy it rained a lot last night & to-day.

Oct 1st John Bell gave me 50 cts on P.O. Box rent 30 cts for harness repairs 75 cts for peaches I wrote to Mrs Ellen Cannon Brockville Jack cut tather on Richardson marker I got it ready to letter & cut base for it we load cap & Die I got a horse from Webster took it down & set it up got know pay it rained some to-night I have left to-night $7.16 cts

2nd Roy Richardson came up paid me in full for horse mon $175.00 got a letter from Geo. Charlton with P.O. Order for $3.50 for fixing watch and one from Mrs G. W. Baker for $8.00 pay in full for two Manuel markers I got them cashed got a draft for Jas. Hutcheon $100 one for Alex Fraser $39.51 cot 15 cts pay in full one for S.B. Norton $13.73 cost 10 cts 16 cts for stamps 10 cts for laundry I paid Seal Bros in full to date $1100 have left at three O'Clock $27.91 cts 18 cts for meat

5th Jack L. & I started for Union cemetry about seven O'Clock stoped at Lansdowne got 10 sacks of cement 3.50 got to Union after ten we had our dinner with us Jack letter Somers, Bradley, & Sliter Jobs We boarded at R. Leeders I stayed at Will Websters to-night got about 20 bus of sand from

him was a nice day

6th built Connor foundation was a nice day

7th build Redmond foundation and straightened up a Copeland job was a lovely day

8th Mr D.B. Johnston & E.E. Johnston came to cemetry and ordered a job two sizes larger than Allen Earl job Die to be 4 inches larger one way and 2 inches larger the other way and they are to allow price to be $29500 with 4 Inscriptions I am to erect it the last of Dec if I can.

27th I worked at harness to-day most of day 10 cts for stamps wrote to Mr. J.A. Bradley Matthew Johnson it snowed
